Looks like it's the three DS games plus "Haunted Castle Revisted," which sounds really interesting to me.
edit: Haunted Castle Revisited is the closest thing to a new Castlevania game. If you're a fan of the series, look up a Let's Play of it.
So I'm not too big on handhelds, I'd rather play on a home console. I didn't pick up the Advance collection because it wasn't attractive to me personally. I can already play those games via the Gamecube GameBoy Player, and I own Dracula X on SNES. But this, I think I will get this one. I tried playing Portrait of Ruin once, but I'm just not big on handhelds. I never tried the other two DS games. This collection might be a good way for me to finally give them all a try. The trailer says you can use a controller for touch controllers. I see a cursor on the screen, so I'm guessing maybe the right joystick controls it? And a tweaked Haunted Castle seems like a good idea. That game sucks enough that I never bothered trying to play all the way through it. I assume they tweaked it so it plays more like a good home console game rather than a shitty arcade quarter eater. And it's cool that the original version is included anyway, just in case anyone is curious what it's like (and how much it sucks).
Castlevania Dominus Collection
Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection
I have the original games and played all three of them to completion. All very good games and I’m glad they are being released again. I won’t personally get this release myself but if you never played any of them or own the originals, I recommend getting this set.
The three GBA games didn’t all hit for me. I liked Circle of The Moon, loved Aria of Sorrow, and hated Harmony of Dissonance. All three DS games hit wonderfully for me.

Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection
I've only beaten Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin. I have played Order of Ecclesia but haven't had the opportunity to finish it yet.
All three are excellent if you like the Metroidvania-style CV's. I do feel the need to point out something. The touchscreen was complete and total bull crap in Dawn of Sorrow. Basically, after you kill a boss you have to trace a sigil around that blue circle. There's a specific pattern you have to do in order for it to register. When you fuck it up (because you will) the fight continues and the boss gets some health back. So back in the day when I played it, I held onto the DS stylus while playing that way I had a half-decent chance to get the pattern correct if I made it to the end of the fight. It was a completely unnecessary addition to the game solely due to the fact that the DS was fairly new at the time and they had to showcase some use of the hardware.
The other use of the touch screen in DoS was in the trailer - breaking ice blocks. Yippie.
Both of these things were patched out in a rom hack. Sigils are skipped and ice blocks can be broken with a weapon. I'd argue that's the ideal way to play the game. Not some hack-y method of using a right thumbstick.
Someone can correct me but I don't think PoR used the touchscreen? I think OoE did though for some things, iirc.
I do think this release looked kinda neat in that you could have the map on the side as opposed to top/bottom.
edit: I did a little reading around the web. Apparently for DoS sigils you can do a button combo instead or something like that? Might be tolerable.

Yeah, I was just guessing at the right thumbstick thing. I have no idea what workaround is really there.
I also like the dual screen setup that they did. I think there's different screen options too.

Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection
I remember the sigils from DoS. They were annoying but for me at least, it didn't take away from the overall package. I'd imagine that for the Switch release, the touch controls would remain if playing in handheld mode?
PoR was my favorite of the three. I liked the idea behind smaller environments within the paintings and the castle being some sort of oversized hub world. If I remember correctly, each of the paintings were pretty distinct. Oh, and also the dual protag idea! I think one was focused on combat with weapons and the other was magic. It's been like 15 years, just going off of memory.

Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection
...I'm definitely geeked for this collection, I'm missing one of those DS classics and being able to play them on a modern tv will be much appreciated. I'm missing the Order of Ecclesia, so this will fix that gap in my collection.

Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection
I’ve also read that Haunted Castle Revisited is excellent. I’ve beaten all of the NDS Castlevania games, but I will still be getting this so that I can play those games again and try out the new game.
Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection
I'm interested in this collection, but I'm not sure I'm ready for the level of addiction that will come with it. Does this product include an optional intervention and treatment plan?
Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection
lol I don’t know if this comes with it, but the Mega Man Battle Network collection didn’t and I needed to be chained to the radiator for a week or two to kick the habit!

Re: Castlevania Dominus Collection
I mean, if you got that collection on Switch then even being chained to a radiator wouldn't be enough. It can go with you! We're all doomed!
