MemCardPro 2 for PS2

Post by Note »

8bitmods, the creator of the MemCardPro for the PS1 and GameCube has announced their next offering, the MemCardPro 2 which is for the PS2! The new version will also be compatible with the PS1, which is a nice bonus. The device is currently scheduled to release towards the end of the year and pre-orders are live at the following link: https://8bitmods.com/memcard-pro2-for-p ... oke-black/.

For those unfamiliar with the device, the MemCardPro let's you save your game save files to a SD card, which allows you to have a ton of storage, which means, only one memory card needed for that console going forward!

I've enjoyed having the earlier offerings, as I've experienced issues with memory cards in the past. I hope eventually they'll release one of these for the Dreamcast!

Awesome, thanks for sharing this.

I'm not sure how I feel about the original card. Seemed a little clunky to use, if you wanted to use it in the traditional way.

That's neat, tho I don't think I need one - it's twice the price...

I'm still rocking the Memor32 USB card from 2008.

PS1 games savefiles are stored as a .zip with a different extension. Inside the archive, the files can be converted to any other PS1 save format for emulators and dexdrive stuff, then recompressed to .zip for use in your original hardware. It also has the ability to activate Memento/FreeMCBoot stuff via ancient software the developers created.

Also now available: the PS2SIO - I have it, but haven't done anything with it yet.

I think if you combined these two, for the same price as that other card you could play almost all the games on a PS2 without using a disc.

Thanks for sharing these other memory cards/accessories that are available, Anapan!

The PS2 MC2SIO device looks like a great accessory to have on hand, to test and play games you don't have a physical copy of. I might look into getting one!
