Leave ending.

Mind blown.

But seriously that is easily one of the best final stretches in a game I've seen in awhile. The density was crazy.

Here I was, going to do something to the extent of what you just said, but in a much more verbose form, and you nailed it.

Yes, I completed SH2 also. I wanted to get it done by the end of the month, little did I know I didn't have much more to go. I also got the Leave ending, which after viewing all the other ones, would be the one I'd really like to get or see as the best ending for this. Got a 7 star rating.

Now I turn back to ZAMN.

SH2's "joke" endings you can get on extra playthroughs are great. Look up the Dog Ending on youtube.

That credits music!

ZAMN is now also complete. The damn Level 36 spider makes another appearance at the very end. This time with the severed head of Dr. Tongue. FUN! Fortunately, picked up a lot of Pandora's boxes to finish it once and for all. The ending shows you how many of each enemy you killed, then you get to enter the Credits Level which is totally interactive, and as you see all the fine folks at Lucasarts behind the game, guess what? YOU GET TO SAVE MORE VICTIMS! Pretty cool idea at that.

All in all, a successful double feature this year.

well, today's Halloween - and the last day of October. Though I intended to play these both, the month seemed to zip by and I spread myself too thin among various horror-related games, movies and so on (as I tend to every year).

Zombies Ate My Neighbors I just couldn't get a hold of (CIB) for a price I was willing to pay. Oh well.

Silent Hill 2 though, I'd like to talk on that one for a moment. This is the second time I've started SH2, and just like the first time it went like this:

The opening is really cool. I've talked about this before, but just the long walk to Silent Hill is such a great way to start a game. Literally nothing happens for 5, 10 mins. You just walk. (I'm talking about before you get to the grave yard, I guess that's where at least something happens). And you're walking and it's quiet except for those dog noises and so on. So while nothing happens, and you're perfectly safe, it really sets the tone for the game.

I like that.

But then I start playing the game itself. And after an hour or two, I just lose interest.

I'm really trying to make sense of this pattern. I can't pick out anything and be like "I don't like SH2 because of ______." I can't even say that I don't like SH2. But I do lose motivation to see it to the end. Heck, I lose motivation to even continue playing early on. It's so weird.

Everything points to this being the sort of game I should love. So why can't I get into it more than I do? It's as if I like the idea of this game more than the game itself. I don't know.

Do you have any trouble getting into stuff like say, the old Resident Evils?

I didn't know what to think or make of SH2 when it was nominated because I was more excited for ZAMN, a game I had for about as long as it has existed, and finally beat it. That's one from the dusty backlog attic I can finally bring into the light.

The introduction made me think "hey, where the heck is the game at this point" then when you finally get into town it ALL goes down. I could have done without that super long stairway from the historical society, however  As well as all the issues I had trying to run it on the PC. This is why I prefer GOG's downloads. At least I got it for a much better price than I expected.

Weird, then. It's not like that really plays all that differently from SH. SH doesn't even make you worry about stuff like ink ribbons and item boxes.

and that I appreciate!

And just to clarify, I don't dislike SH2. I just can't seem to get "sucked in" long enough to just play to the end.
