Best I can do at the moment is emulate the GBA version, is it as good as the consoles'?

the GBA version is actually quite good. Yeah.
I picked up the PS1 version for this month.

Even though I have the Saturn version, I'm going to play the PSN/PS1 version on my PS3 (bigger screen and wireless controller)

how far in are you? I beat Chronicles earlier this year and absolutely LOVED it.

I'm about half way through and I am having a blast. The game looks great on the PSP and the music is awesome. I'm a sucker for the linear Castlevanias and thought I'd pick this one up before buying Dracula X Chronicles. I definitely think this one is an underrated entry in the series.

I agree big time. I really prefer the linear Castlevanias, which seems to not be the majority opinion on the series. Chronicles is definitely unfairly overlooked.
