Gaming chairs and computer desk

Post by Xeogred »

Need some ideas for some new furniture.

Dealing with a neck injury, I now understand how important posture is so it's definitely the biggest consideration here. My current desk is like something you'd use to chop down logs in a garage or something lol, it's massive and my elbows/arms sit pretty high on it so it's definitely not very ideal.

Probably something I just want to find in person, any good stores I should check out? Admittedly haven't even looked in person yet, but maybe there's some good deals out there you guys would recommend.

And I'm curious about some kind of gaming chair that would be comfortable to use, if they're legit? They all look kind of small and low to the ground, but my TV sits only about 2 and a half inches off the ground so that probably isn't a problem. Right now I'm just laying back in bed, so maybe I could also just consider a bed rest chair thing? But then again I'd like to be closer to the TV again, I just noticed I get pretty uncomfortable after awhile sitting in the crappy chairs I have now, but then I get eye strain probably from being further back in my bed... lol can't win either way for now. :x

Your legs will hate the Gaming Chair for extended sessions which is similiar to just sitting on the floor with a pillow with back support. Put the TV at a decent level and get a regular chair, couch or lounger setup.

Yeah this does seem more ideal, I think I'll just put a little extra money in a good computer chair someday and use that for gaming too. Currently just have a wood chair, which is actually more comfortable than my old computer chair (very low to the ground and no arm rests).

As for posture, I recommend a stool rather than a chair. Without the back, a stool forces you to sit upright. No slouching.

I recommend checking Goodwill, or other thrift stores. You can find some great office furniture in thrift stores for great prices.

Agree with the above, and also check out ikea. They sell all sorts of different desk pieces, so you can sort of assemble whatever desk you want like legos. That's what I plan on doing when I get a house and a new computer setup.

When looking for a desk chair, make sure to get one that has height adjustments on the arms. My old chair had this, but my new one does not and I miss it badly.
