While playing Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin did you ever say to yourself "Man, I wish I could play as Maria and a cat"? Well now you can! https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/7505/
Not hacks but someone's porting TMNT: The Arcade Game and Castlevania to the Sega Master System. Wonder if they'd be willing to try bringing the Simpsons arcade game to the Master System. I know there's a Genesis fan port in the works.
I read the notes. They didn't change gameplay (good). They improved graphics (good, probably). They tried to replace music. The music was done by Yuzo Koshiro. Why replace it? Silliness.
I've recently started messing around with homebrew games and emulation again and have discovered some neat rom hacks. Check these out:
These three games are Super Mario World hacks that are like entirely new games:
sicari remastered and Sicari 2 A Plumber for All Seasons
Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman Zero for the SNES recently got an English patch and now goes by the name Shockman Zero - It's a 2d action platformer with some beat'em up elements
TMNT: Shredder's Re-Revenge - It's basically Streets of Rage 2, but with the characters from TMNT: Shredder's Revenge as playable characters, kind of amazing given that Shredder's Revenge is a modern game just released last year on all major consoles
Dottie Dread Nought - This one's not really a hack, but a new SNES game. A fun, 2d, platformer
There's a cool hack of Contra Hard Corps that gives the English version the three hit health bar from the Japanese release. Only proper way to play that game as far as I'm concerned. The patch works with a few other enhancement patches available for the game as well. You can pretty much have a "definitive" version of the game now by adding all the patches together. There's patches that improve the controls, fix the dialog, and even add a save feature. With all those improvements I'd say Hard Corps is now the best Contra game
