I found a ylod ps3 in our houses trash. Was looking around and found out that baking the board is a temporary fix at best.

The nec caps to be the cause of the problem.

I found this tutorial on psx-scene i wanted to try, but my soldering skills are not good enoigh. Got a bud that could donit but due to covid we didnt get to try this out yet:

I was wondering if you could just reroute the power supply outside the unit to prevent so much heat, or is that not what causes the issue on the bc ps3's. I replaced mine with a cooler variant, just in case, when I picked mine up used 3 years ago.
