What the f is wrong with the PS3s network?

Post by miked »

It seems like it takes for freaking ever to download anything on this thing. Updates, demos and videos all take way too long. I switched to a wired connection and saw some improvement but not much. Never had these problems with the 360 or either of my PC's.

Is it just me? Gigabit ethernet port my ass.......

I've always kinda felt that too. Updates I usually get PC style because it's faster even with the transferring.

I think it's time for a T1.

Never had any complaints about PSN download speeds. They are surprisingly fast most of the time. Except during firmware updates which have generally taken much longer for me to download despite their small size.

PSN is slow as shit. I could not believe how annoying PSN is in many ways when I got a PS3 after using a 360 for a year. Not only is everything super-slow, but I hate how after you DL something THEN you have to wait for it to install. Even when it's something tiny like a single Rock Band song.

That would be a good point, except that you don't have to pay for XBL Gold to do the stuff we're talking about. Downloading games, demos, videos, etc doesn't require gold.

I own both a 360 and PS3 and they're on a wired connection to a router. That said, PS3 sucks balls for downloading and installing. It takes sooooo long compared to the 360. I do love the PS3 but dear God they do not have down the software like 360 does (go figure).

After recently getting a PS3 myself, I can also say too, that it is slower than shit.

PSN is lightning (force IV) fast. Maybe that's a reflection of where I live, but it's very quick here.

the speed when I'm connected to the PSN isn't bad, but i DO have lots of problems getting a connection at all sometimes...

some days it works perfectly, and other days it will refuse to connect and I'll get consistent DNS errors...
