thinking of getting a gameboy

Post by mas »

Hi,
So lately I have had an urge to play some gameboy as of late and I was thinking of getting another gameboy system. About 2 years ago I got rid of the system and games.
I have been thinking about getting the system and right now I either want a pocket or color. I loved the way it looked and felt in my hands. Hell I may even get the gray brick since that was my first gameboy in 1989.
I just want for opinions if people still play the original gameboy/gbc games and I want to know how often people still play with their gameboys or what games they still can get into.
I just don't want to start buying the stuff and two month's later im bored with it that's all. For me money is a little tight and my money has been going on the dreamcast and my psone. So maybe I'm in just a fad but Like I said I want to really think about it and catch up on gameboy history and youtube video's and see if I can get back into those games.
If you guys can give me some feedback on this that would be great. I also am thinking if I get a gameboy with games let's say to start off with 50.00 within two month's and I cant get into it again, well that's 50.00 for project justice or fatal fury for the dc.

Calling Noiseredux! Calling Noiseredux!

Gameplay-wise there's not much of a reason to use either a Gameboy Pocket or Gameboy Color because their games work on the Gameboy Advance SP, which is backlit and thus, more playable. But if you really want to play on non-backlit hardware, there's no reason not to get a Color, it gets you a lot of nice games and has a better shape.

If you collect raw cartridges I think 50$ will get you very far. If not it will depend on what games you find interesting but you can easily get two or three of them and the console.

Get rechargable batteries to save some cash.

Concerning games, I have to admit I don't know much about the system. However,I can talk about the Pokemon games and I say, don't, get one of the DS remakes unless you are interested in the history. The originals are great, better than the recent sequels in my opinion but the remakes iron out the bad out of the games.

GBA SP is the way to go (unless you want the GameCube GBPlayer route).

My first GB was the "gray brick" too, but for some reason, unlike other consoles, I've had no qualm getting the GBC and then the GBA SP. I like that I can switch out between GB, GBC, and GBA games while only bringing along one handheld with me. I carry a lot of books, notebooks, and papers with me to work, so having more than one handheld would have been a pain. Having only one makes it easier for me, not to mention having the luxury of having a backlit screen.

I would get a Super Game Boy for playing GB games in color and a Game Boy Player for everything else.

Is that a 3DS XL in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me? ~ZeroAX

THIS, be sure its the brighter lit 101 model. All the gameboy games work, the GBA SP FITS in the front pants pocket. GameCube GBPlayer is the perfect topping with both on the go and home gaming covered for the same cart.

it's your call man. Just consider this: the screen is really tough to look at on a GBC. You need to sit in DIRECT light to see it. And if you get an SP, then you can play in any light plus have access to the HUGE library of GBA games.

(How much do you think is too much for an SP anyway?)

A used GBA SP is around twenty five bucks. This give you room to grow in the eventuality you decide to buy GBA games.
