My brother and i have decided to try and play every SNES RPG in the order (year) they came out. lol. The goal is to try and finish them, but, if we absolutely cannot stand the game we can quit after 8 hours.
Anyways, I am trying to compile a list of all English and Japanese games with good translations (over %90). For now i am using just the year the game was first released on the system. If a game was released to NA in 95 and JP in 93 i used 93. I might try to hunt down exact dates as well.
Here's what i have so far. If anyone has anything to add i would be extremely grateful.

Actraiser (1991)
Fantastic game. I guess it's not a true RPG, but it uses a lot of RPG elements and is well worth playing.

Nice list! I'm actually trying to collect all the games in English so this is a handy reference. Are you trying to track down physical copies or are you emulating?
I would include ActRaiser 1 & 2, you'll be missing out if you don't play them.
And yes, Drakkhen is an interesting game to start with.... Good luck.

ActRaiser 1 should be included. By managing and protecting your towns, the population increases; once the population increases to a certain set amount you'll level up.
So in a way Population = Experience.
ActRaiser 2 is just a sidescroller. No rpg elements from what I remember.
edit: and Zelda? It shouldn't be on the list but by this point I don't feel like reading the same argument again.
Moving on.

I'd like to hear one compelling argument as to why LttP is an RPG, but if you don't want your thread to get closed in 3 pages you should probably ignore this.

Find the "What constitutes an RPG" thread for reading material.sabrage wrote:I'd like to hear one compelling argument as to why LttP is an RPG, but if you don't want your thread to get closed in 3 pages you should probably ignore this.
