I've been using 3-in-One, but it's probably not the best choice. I couldn't even recommend one for you, sorry. I'm no expert on the matter. The only thing I can say about 3-in-One on plastic is... The foamy lubricate on the plastic gears in my Dunlop Wah pedal wore away and it started squeaking. I put 3-in-One on the gears and it's been fine for the past 3 or 4 years now.

The only problem is that it runs so it's harder to work with than a lubricant with the viscosity of Vaseline or whatever. But after you smear it on with a Q-Tip / cotton swab and remove all the excess oil, I think it's fine.

I just use Vasoline, is there a better alternative?

I believe white lithium grease is what's often used. If you have a hobby store they might have some with the RC cars and whatnot.

this is why you should use tape to make it tight. i seen videos on youtube that show it. haven't done it but seems like it works.

I tried this on two of my sticks, one is loose and the other is unusable.

It made the unusable one....unusable, and made the loose one loose but the degree of movement it once had is stiff, which I consider a step backwards.

Yes. They really are awesome.

I was thinking about it more, and although I would still wanna try one, I just can't give up the original controller. Especially the N64 controller with it's Z trigger. It just wouldn't feel right to me. I would still like to at least test drive the Hori controller, but I think it would be too expensive since I don't know if I'll like it or not. I suppose I could always easily sell it, since they're so popular.[/quote]

you should get a hori controller because they have a longer/better joystick and are more comfortable to play with. they also come in some cool colours

So I failed the team and still havent bought one of those controllers. I did start playing N64 games with my buddies on the weekend though. Asteroids is confusing in 4 player, Forsaken is pretty awesome, and our standby of Battle Tanx Global Assault got us all cussing again.

The reason I didnt buy a controller yet is because I have 5 hori pads now. I prefer the original controller to the horipad, but the sticks roll so smoothly.

Yeah, the stick is awesome, but not always practical. It feels perfect when playing Mario 64 or similar platformer. And it felt great when I played through Star Fox 64 with it, but the button layout was bad for that game. You know how you're constantly hitting the A button to shoot, but then use your thumb to also press a C button for a boost or break? Doesn't work out well on the Hori pad.

Also, I found the joystick on the Hori pad waaaay too sensitive to play GoldenEye with.

It just takes a couple rounds Ziggy. There are something I still cant do with it, like snipe mines in multiplayer, but I am sure with enough time Ill be able to do it.

While I DO like the Hori pad, I don't think I'll ever take the time to get use to it for GoldenEye. I'll definitely opt to use it for a platformer or something like that, mostly so I don't wear out my 1rst party pads. But other than that, I just prefer the original controller.
