Collection of Guides

Post by Ziggy »

This thread will be a work in progress for now. There's many great guides that forum members have written, but they tend to get "lost," so I would like this thread to be a central location for them.

For now I'll just dump links I have bookmarked (or threads I know of extemporaneously) but once there's enough I'll divide them into categories. I'll keep the list up to date, and I encourage members to try and keep there guides up to date.

EVERYONE, please post links to guides in this thread so that I can add them to the list. Whether it's your guide or not, post the link. If you know of some that exist, please try to locate it and post it here. Thanks.

The List of Guides, v1:

How to get Sega Cue Maker working in Windows XP, Vista & 7 - The fix for Vista works for Windows 7 as well. The second post in this thread has information on how to get Sega Cue Maker working on 64-bit Vista. The third post has info on how to get Sega Cue Maker working in XP 32-bit!

Neo Geo CD region mod

Convert Genesis and Saturn RF adapters into composite cables

How to burn Sega CD, Saturn and Neo Geo CD games with all FREE software (scroll to third post - I plan to expand this guide on it's own thread)

Sources of Samples/Great products for your Mods

PSP custom firmware universal guide

http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/ - Many guides for console modifications!

Repairing a Neo Geo CD controller

http://www.gamesx.com/ - has lots of great guides

I have a few pages in memory that some could benefit from.

Most of this could probably be found at gamesx but I like the comparisons of RGB and such for anyone that's interested. Screenshots are nice too.

Most of this seems too complex for me but some guides on USB-ing your retro controllers.

http://www-unix.ecs.umass.edu/~dhowland/mod/
I did this Genesis S-Video Mod myself so it's very possible, and I highly recommend if you can't get RGB.

Good guide for XRGB-3 in English that I got from MrPopo a bit back

http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?board=19.0
Various logs and info about hardware and boards/chips ect. There is some good info on here.

This has a lot of Dedicated guides at the top so highly recommended for any NEC fans. Helped me get my TurboDuo cranking out the good tunes again.

This thread was kinda forgotten about in favor of the Guides section we now have...

http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=52

Maybe ask a mod to move your thread to that section?
