Hey so I finally got my Betamax player working (Reving the FF multiple times seem to be the cure lol) but it really stinks. It's kinda like a uncleaned filter/ gross cleaning solution smell, really hard to describe. It's constantly there but seems to be worse when watching films, then again being around it for so long might be the reason behind that.
Anyway! Anyone have any tips to how I could douse the smell logically?
Betamax Stink
Re: Betamax Stink
Such a now rare old collectable. Maybe carefully pop that cover off and get rid of hopefully not literally any bugs or gunk in there? BETA better then VHS in its day but because of marketing, VHS won out.

It didn't help that VHS initially had longer recording time.CRTGAMER wrote: but because of marketing, VHS won out.

Re: Betamax Stink
I have a couple solutions that in the past have worked wonders for spilled bong water, beer and other bad smells.
Number one is a "cigarette" flavoring branded tasty-puff. The most effective flavor is Chronic Hypnotic. Seriously, it doesn't matter what happened on the carpet, this stuff will completely nullify it. It doesn't even smell that strong, but it works wonders. The other flavors all work OK too.
The other stuff is Smoke-Away smoke odor spray. I can't find an image for the exact stuff on google images, but the local liquidation store carried a supply of the stuff I use and I've seen it other stores so here's a link so some other random brand. We use it for freshening vehicles before we flip them because it can get rid of the old smoke smell in any vehicle regardless of past smoking history or any other odors. A few blasts of that stuff over the entire innards of your Betamax should fix it up. It leaves almost no residual smell after application. After the usual vacuuming and detailing of the interior we use about 1/4 of a bottle on a vehicle the day before it's gonna be sold and leave the windows down for it to work it's magic.
