Question about modding my Saturn

Post by Wayneo123 »

Hi Everyone, long time lurker first time poster here from the UK :-)

I have a 64 Pin Model 2 Saturn (I think) here is a Picture
http://i569.photobucket.com/albums/ss14 ... G_0168.jpg

I got my modchip in the post this morning (Thanks Racketboy!) I have used the A+B method and it plays my original Virtua Cop 2 fine. I made a copy of it using ImgBurn and when I try to play that it just goes to the CD player and I can only play the tracks from it.

Based upon this information what do you guys think the problem could be?

Thanks for reading :)

I've seen this behavior from my Saturn on initial bootup. After it's been warmed up a few minutes, it'll read it fine. What media are you using? What burn speed?

Hey thanks for the replies :)

Im using a "no name" media at the minute. I have 100 Verbatims sat here so Il try one of them and let you know what happens
Cheers

EDIT: Still no luck with Verbatims. I will carry this on tomorrow as im going out now. Gonna try filing down the chip and reseating everything.
I will post another update on here tomorrow

Thanks for the help

Are you burning the discs at 4x, or are you burning them at 40x OMGWTFBBQ speed?

Burn as slow as you can, but you'll have better luck with 4x or so, depending on whether your Saturn likes that brand of disc. You may need to find an old burner/PC to do it with before it cooperates.

I know some 64-pin Saturn's have compatibility issues with mod chips. I actually had to hunt down a 32-pin just to make sure mine would work okay.

Here's a link to the topic I posted when I was having trouble with my mod chip. Maybe it can help you out.

Seriously, use the green drive connector for the power, I forget which hole you put it in but I had this problem and that fixed it (a guide for it is over on robbwebbs site somewhere)

What does "green drive connector" mean Krooner?
Thanks

Hey everyone, I have been messing with this tonight and found that If I squash or wiggle the ribbon cable then the CD starts to spin so I think it must be damaged. Does anyone know the best place to purchase a replacement 21-pin Ribbon cable?

Thanks

Not sure, but you should try taping it down to see if holding it steady will keep it running.
