What was the last movie you've seen?

Yesterday I watched the Friday the 13th fan film, Never Hike Alone. It mostly revolves around a hiker who stumbles upon a derelict Camp Crystal Lake and a familiar hockey-masked mama's boy.

Also Thom Matthews returns to the role of Tommy Jarvis, which he first played in Part VI: Jason Lives and later reprised in Friday the 13th: The Game.

There's a follow up called Never Hike in the Snow, with a third entry coming soon called Never Hike Again.

I really enjoyed Never Hike Alone, I thought it was a take that really worked for a zero budget Friday the 13th. It was a short and suspenseful ride. Never Hike in the Snow didn't work for me as well for whatever reason. I'm hoping the final film will bring it together in a satisfying way.

I've heard that there's been tons of promising work in the modding community for Friday the 13th: The Game, so I wonder if there's plans for adding a Ghost Jason to it.

DC's animated fare is so much better than their movie efforts it's ridiculous.

Ive been on a DC animated kick lately. I bought the 30 movie collection from iTunes for $100 I think (and got a couple of other animated movies).

So far I’ve watched:

I’m currently watching Batman: Dark Knight Returns double feature.

Under the Red Hood was probably my favorite.

Jensen Ackles did such a great job in Under the Red Hood they made him the voice of Batman for the Long Halloween movies. Under the Red Hood has a sequel I think, but it's this weird interactive thing where you choose what ending you get. It also recaps a lot of stuff from the first movie.

I love a lot of the DC animated movies. Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, despite its name, is probably the best Supergirl movie ever made. Batman: Bad Blood gave us a far more likable Batwoman than the awful CW show. It's also a great "Bat Family" movie, as it features very little of Batman and is more focused on his allies. I love the Owlman scenes in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, he's exactly how I would imagine an evil Batman. I also really like Justice League vs The Fatal Five. It's an excellent Green Lantern movie and it also feels like a lost episode of Justice League Unlimited. I also love how that movie shows us Batman mentoring someone other than the usual suspects (Robin, Batgirl, etc.). Batman Beyond Return of the Joker Uncut is also great, and is similar in theme to Under the Red Hood. Main difference being that the story takes place in the Batman Beyond universe.

One DC animated movie I can't watch though is Justice League Dark Apokolips War. God that movie looks disturbing and depressing. It's basically Game of Thrones DC Edition

In terms of series, I think Green Lantern the Animated series gets overlooked a lot. It's really good. It definitely deserved more than one season

Batman Beyond universe was great and I will eventually marathon the series including the movie.

I would have loved a movie on how Owlman and the rest of the Syndicate started.

I just finished the Dark Knight Returns. What an awesome movie! Older Batman, new female Robin, and a story about the changing times.

IMHO, Batman Beyond Return of the Joker (either cut) was the best Batman movie prior to the Christopher Nolan movies. It isn't really necessary to watch all of the tv show before watching it. As long as you have seen Terry's origin as the new Batman and you know about the Jokerz gang, I'd say you are good to go.

Watched Spiral: From the Book of Saw, the latest in the Saw franchise. I enjoyed it. Wonder if we're getting more Saw films.

Also watched Never Hike in the Snow, a followup to Never Hike Alone that brings more gore but less story in a much shorter runtime. IIRC there's a Ghost Cut of NHA, which combines the footage with NHitS and the music video for Disappear.

The Company of Wolves



Lovely adult-themed anthology focused around adolescence and werewolves. Features Angela Lansbury as the kindly old grandmother who tells her granddaughter violently graphic stories about lycanthropes. Very pretty. Very dreamlike. Very well done. I enjoyed it immensely. If you like anthologies and werewolves you should go watch it.


Daddy's Little Girl



An Indy torture-porn revenge thriller out of Australia about a dad who gets revenge on the psycho who killed his five-year-old daughter. Pretty solid as far as Indy films go, but it suffers from predictable flaws like sound issues, questionable casting and leaps in logic. Not bad as long as you don't think about anything too hard. Or want to see much of the gore, since most of those moments are shot in shoddy lighting (so you can't see the flaws.)

Schizoid



Early Giallo-esque American slasher about a newspaper advise columnist who has someone stalking her and killing the members of her therapy group with an obnoxiously large pair of scissors. It looks and feels like a 70s TV movie, is filled with implausible twists and has a very predictable ending. It also stars Klaus Kinski as one of the creepiest and most unbelievable psychologists I've ever seen, and features very early appearances by Christopher Lloyd and Donna Wilkes, both of whom were in small roles, but still ended up being too good for this film. It's got some good tension-filled moments, but the mystery angle doesn't work and the relationship at the heart of the film really stinks. But if you enjoy early slashers you'll probably get a kick out of it.

Turbo Kid



I've been wanting to watch this movie for a long time and finally got around to it. Fun, low budget, 80s style, movie with lots of gore, a nice dose of action and comedy, and shades of Mad Max. It has some nice little easter eggs for gamers too and just lots of fun references in general.

aaaand now I've just watched the awesome, prequel, music video for Turbo Kid. I already knew who my favorite character from the movie was but that further cemented it.
