Wow, this is really relevant since I just upgraded.
@nightrnr - That's my favorite GB song. It's titled "Enker", btw. Some great remixes available on Youtube.
Since early 2017, I've been using the song Wild Fields by Yoko O - The overworld theme from the NES game Crystalis. I did a bunch of filtering and parametric equalizing to suit the speaker in my old phone. I think I even favored a different (less accurate) NSF rendering engine because it sounded better through the cellphone speaker.
Back in December of 2018, I commissioned RushJet1 to do a cover of it as I really admire his ability to take a NES song and redo it using NES hardware so much better, but still clearly Nintendo music. You probably also heard his music elsewhere. He even made Atari music sound okay by avoiding hardware limited offtune notes.
He just finished it! I did tell him there was no time limit and I'd forgotten I even paid him to remix it by this point.
My new ringtone:

https://anapan.ca/anapan/SoinicRing.mp3My countdown timer alarm is extracted from the anime Gugure Kokkuri-san.
In it, the main character Kohina uses a
Haniwa (terra-cotta rock spirit sculpture) shaped egg-timer to let her know when her instant ramen is ready.
https://anapan.ca/anapan/Haniwa.mp3I don't think this thing actually exists, at least I couldn't find anything. I really want one to the point that I've been thinking of strugling with ZBrush enough to model it and have it 3D printed, then sticking some arduino guts inside.
