What's your pet peeve in gaming?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

What's your pet peeve in gaming?

Post by racketboy »

Is there any recurring things in games that just get on your nerves?
Personally, I hate running back in forth to find some item when I really don't know where to look.
Zelda does this to me all the time.
I like games that keep me moving forward without a lot of fuss.
Backtracking is no fun.

How 'bout you?

I hate it when games make you collect really cool stuff that does nothing for the game. By nothing i mean a super secret item should add to the games story or plot or open a super secret level that adds to the plot or story.

Take Castlevania Symphony of the night for example. The game has a lot of really cool weapons and items but there so damn rare a player could win the game and never see more than 3 really cool weapons. that pisses me off. Im sure its happened to me on other games but i cant remember them right now.

I hope I am not in the minority here REGION CODING SUCKS

Post by oizukitom »

Hi,
I took this thread as "what do I hate about the industry." Clearly the region code concept suck donkey balls. Sure sell games only in Japan but don't dick with my hardware so I can't import a game without rewiring my gear. How many instances are there of unbreakable region coding ? [insert company] spends x amount of cash on encryption and region coding and then some 8th grader in India cracks it on a Tuesday. End region coding !!!

A serious note -- Huge Thank You's to the US service men and women and their familes on Memorial Day for their dedication and sacrifices.

Have a nice holiday if you are in the USA, and end region coding.

I hate Random Battles in RPG games. But with some exceptions; if the battle system is fun, alright. (ie, Pokemon, Tales of, ect)

Unbalenced difficulty by far I hate most. Things like being in first place in Mario Kart 64 and watching whatever CPU in 2nd have always-on turbo boost until they pass you. It's so easy to spot aspects where creators make something harder instead of more fun or interesting. One of the most difficult games I've played is MDK2, but it was totally fair beginning to end.

Bad cameras, region coding, PAL/NTSC standard, No hints on where to go.

I really didnt mind the low drop rates in castlevania. I have nearly a hole collection of the swords(minus that damn summoned one). Same with Shenmue. I like working for my collection.

I'd have to say when they make the important items look just like the back ground. that and when they up the difficulty by just swarming you with more enemies.
