I threw together the banner at http://www.portableplatypus.com using GIMP, but it came out a little sloppy. Is there an easy way to get rid of the white pixels around the images? Also, is there an easy way to change the color of the platypus's bill, while keeping the shading in-tact?
EDIT: Used Paint to fix the outlines. Pixel by Pixel. I can see my dog's pixels. Still trying to figure out the bill.

Re: question for gimp/photoshop users
do you have your source images? I assume you used a harness/lasso tool to remove the surroundings of each image, right? If you either tighten the constraints of the lasso or manually clean up each source image's edges, it should be easily do-able.
regarding the platypus bill, I dunno, never messed with color manipulation.

If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?
Re: question for gimp/photoshop users
I just selected the background, added alpha channel, and cleared it. I'll give the lasso thing a try. If it comes down to it, I'm ready to open up MS paint and manually do this shit.

Does GIMP have an equivalent to the magic wand tool in Photoshop? Magic wand is where it's at!

Yes, it has the same tool and it's got somewhat of a better selection algorithm >_>
Also, to be frank, magic wand tool is a joke, all around. Either use the selection tool or the pen tool then map to a selection to do this kind of stuff.

Well we all know photoshop is the king of graphic design, if you want to get it pefect the best way to achieve it would be masking.

I should mention I don't actually have photoshop; I just figured both programs would have virtually the same tools for a simple color change.

I'm still rocking Photoshop 7.0 ... haha, wow.

I have you beat... SIX POINT OH!Xeogred wrote:I'm still rocking Photoshop 7.0 ... haha, wow.
Xeogred, do you work with any raw images from cameras? I recently got a DSLR that I wanna edit raw images from (.cr2) but 6.0 doesn't support them. I tried to Google, but I couldn't even figure out if a plugin exists that's supported by 6.0.
Re: question for gimp/photoshop users
Unfortunately no, lol. I just kind of mess around with Photoshop for banners and things like that. Nothing crazy though.
I want a newer version just to see the premade effects you can give images, lol.
