I've been trying to restore a vintage compact Macintosh and am nearing the limits of my frustration.
A friend of mine was able to get two of them through a friend and I went over to try to fix them up and replace ancient capacitors. Mine was half-working a week ago: the analog board was fine but the logic board was acting up. I ordered a replacement logic board off ebay and popped it in... now the analog board isn't working.

I'm at the point where I'm going to either try to hire someone who knows what they're doing to fix it for me or I'm going to sell its parts on ebay and cut my losses. Old computers can be a lot of fun but also a lot of frustration...

There is a niche but enthusiastic old Mac collectors. So before you quit you might one to search online. Here is one community that might hep.
https://forums.macrumors.com/forums/apple-collectors.6/

This guy used to restore Macs for a price but I don't think he does it any more if you look into his channel or see his circle of followers or just ask him directly you might be direct to the right path:

Or maybe check Rossman who repairs Macs for a living, I am not sure if he does vintage though but never hurts to ask.

They also have a forum where you might want to ask:

but imo all electronics are bound to die, you might get it to work today but its only matter of time before it dies. Personally I am impressed some Saturns and 3DOs are still working. Thats 25 years of spinning technology.

I successfully found someone who *should* be able to get it into working order! I'll have to mail it across the country, but I'm okay with that.

That's awesome, glad to hear you found someone who should be able to repair it. My family had an Apple IIc back in the late 80s, that was our first computer. Would be fun to have one again. Hope the technician is able to get it back to working order for you. Keep us posted on how the repair process goes.

Went to the thrift store. It's a lost cause for games, but I found this shirt that I knew I had to get

I assume it's a red flag if you left your job with your last day being the 14th and then this morning your former boss texts you asking if you can come to work today. I obviously said no.

My guess is that they’re desperate for help, PH. I suspect other places are too, and I hope you find (or have found?) a new place that treats its employees a bit more respectfully (and also pays more).

It's another location of the same company, but they still consider themselves separate entities with different pay which seems a bit confusing. I'm just worried because the boss of the old location is the kitchen boss of all locations, and talking to some cooks about it through Facebook they said that he might do his best to get me to still work there, even while working at the new location. It might be anxiety but I'm worried that this will go down south fast and I might just have to leave entirely.

EDIT: I am taking a month off though for another hand tattoo that will take two sessions.
