What are some awesome games where you play as mechs? For any system out there.

Get the PC Mechwarrior games. Now. The reboot's coming soon (how soon, I don't know) and they just kick ass. The second and fourth games are Arena combat whereas the third was more of a simulation (I'd assume you'd like this since you liked Steel Battalion).

Re: Looking for Mech games.
Second is in no way an arena combat game (though Mech 2 Mercs does have arena combat). But yeah, Mechwarrior 2, the expansion, and Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries (standalone) are fantastic. I've heard good things about Mechwarrior 3. Mechwarrior 4 is a bit more streamlined, but it's nowhere near the arcade shit that MechAssault is. And I cannot recommend Mechwarrior Living Legends for Crysis enough.GSZX1337 wrote:Get the PC Mechwarrior games. Now. The reboot's coming soon (how soon, I don't know) and they just kick ass. There's also Earthsiege for Mech action. It was made by Sierra back around the same time as Mech 2. And of course there's Virtual On on the Saturn and Virtual On Ontario Tangram for the Dreamcast. The Saturn version can be played easily on the standard Saturn pad, but I'd really recommend you look into getting the Twin Sticks if you're going to play the Dreamcast version; the DC doesn't have quite enough buttons.

The Zone of the Enders series on PS2 is very good, especially the second game.
And some of the Gundam games would be good. I only really know of the ones on the Super Famicom, and out of those, Gundam Wing Endless Duel stands out. It's a fighting game with mechs!

Mechwarrior 4 is due to be released for free in advance of the new Mechwarrior game. So keep an eye on that.

Maybe that was the one I was thinking of.MrPopo wrote:Second is in no way an arena combat game (though Mech 2 Mercs does have arena combat).GSZX1337 wrote:Get the PC Mechwarrior games. Now. Theo only bad thing I can think of about it is that it puts up a hissy fit when I run it in XP/Vista.I've heard good things about Mechwarrior 3.
MechAssault was okay, but nowhere near the awesomeness of MechWarrior. It's kin of like going from SW:Jedi Academy to SW: The Force Unleashed.Mechwarrior 4 is a bit more streamlined, but it's nowhere near the arcade shit that MechAssault is.
I thought that got cancelled because of MechWarrior Not 5.And I cannot recommend Mechwarrior Living Legends for Crysis enough.

Re: Looking for Mech games.
In general Mechwarrior is pretty awesome. I'd definitely recommend 2, and all it's expansions the most though. Plus it has one of the greatest game intros ever imo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X3GD0UnBCk). One of the later mw games has a hack to use the Steel Battalion controller with it, I have no idea how well it works, but it would be cool to try.
