The Fighter (2010)– I was pleasantly surprised by this one, which soars on the acting talent of the cast. Given his recent string of action films, it is easy to forget that Christian Bale can actually act. He certainly turns in an award winning performance in this one, and even Wahlberg (whom I usually don’t like) is very good. The whole cast is perfectly cast, the story is fascinating, and the film is deserving of its acclaim. One of the best of last year.
Grade: 4.5/5
Paranormal Activity (2009) – Wow. I had heard some great things about this one, but what I found was a sad excuse for a horror film. In this film, aka Blair Witch Part VII: The Spooky House, the premise is that everything the audience sees was found on a videotape. The problem with this premise is that there are far too many things videotaped that no one – even a videophile asshole like the lead character – would ever tape. A film like this must work on a suspension of disbelief, but when Cloverfield 4: OMG Demonz is always erasing that belief through ridiculous shots, cheesy effects, or horrendous acting, the film goes nowhere. It gets a half point for some well thought out set design and a half point for being mercifully short.

I hate all the "you are there" cheap recording movies. Curse you Blair Witch for starting all the crappy shaky VHS camera "reality" horror movies. Speaking of a low budget movie, I saw this one.noiseredux wrote:yeah it sucks ass. So boring and the "acting" is terrible.dsheinem wrote:Paranormal Activity (2009) – Wow. Buried
I was expecting a basic horror movie. Turns out to be a great suspense, is this guy going to get out alive type of movie. Makes one wonder what what to do if in the same circumstance. Not going to give away the ending, this is the way a low budget movie should be made.

Windaria (anime) - Wow, it was basically like a fairy tale gone wrong, haha. Visually outstanding, topped off with some amazing music, I was really impressed. A bit slow paced but the atmosphere took off and I did not see some of those twists coming.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Just saw Freejack starring Mick Jagger from Rolling Stones, Emelio Estevez, and Renee Russo. Wasn't bad. Not a masterpiece, but enjoyable. There's a few plot-holes here and there, but they can be overlooked. Mick Jagger actually didn't do to bad, but that's probably because he played a guy that was mostly the strong-silent type.
In it a corporation in future steals people from the moment right before their deaths in the past. They then use those people as replacement bodies for the rich. Emelio Estevez is one of those people, but he wakes up fully conscious and aware and that's not supposed to happen. He ends up on the run and Mick Jagger is the leader of an elite team sent to retrieve him.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Shutter Island,Public Enemies on dvd and visited cinema with girlfriend and her children to see `Gnomeo and Jiliet`
,to be honest i enjoyed Shutter Island a great deal,Public enemies was not upto the usual standard i expect from Mr Depp and despite my initial reservations Gnomeo and Juliet was actually rarther good, normally i cannot bare kids films.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Currently watching Jackass 3 (it's on DVD so no 3D).
So far, so good.
And dumb question but... when is #4 coming out?
And how fucking stupid is it that they're gonna release J3.5 (all the excised stuff from J3D reintegrated) at a later date? Why not just add this shit in the initial home release? That's just logic.
