If any of you didn't order Payback, you're missing one hell of a show

Re: The Wrestling Thread
The divas match was far better than anyone expected. Kaitlyn and AJ brought it. The ring work was good, and so was the *gasp* storytelling. Imagine that.
The Del Rio/Ziggler double turn was BRILLIANT! The crowd completely sold it too, forcing even the announcers to go, "The crowd has really turned on Del Rio", which was followed by a "Can you blame them?". The announcers did good work here as they showed conflicted feelings about what Del Rio, as a face, was doing in this match. Credit to AJ too, much like we saw in the divas match, her and Kaitlyn are pretty good as selling emotional reactions. She went all babyface as she watched her boyfriend get destroyed
RVD at Money in the Bank! Awesome! Crowd ate that up
Punk/Jericho was a great match with a great crowd. Punk was hilarious when he hit the high knee on Jericho in the corner and went, "Vintage Punk!" The guy's a fucking genius. Too smart actually, as the announcers didn't even react to that. He's fucking trolling you guys. Say something! Punk is too clever for his own good
The Shield match was predictably good. They always are, but I thought it could have benefited from a few more minutes, which says a lot for how enjoyable it was that I wanted it to be longer. Again, Bryan came off as The Shield's kryptonite but inability to work effectively as a Team with Orton led to him getting pinned. Appropriately by Rollins I believe, who seems to be developing a mini feud with Bryan
The IC title match was pretty entertaining. Axel winning the title on Father's Day and crying = win. I'm sure Mr. Perfect was somewhere smiling down on him. Pinning Wade while he was in the Miz's figure four leglock was awesome. He held Wade's arms down too to make sure he didn't tap. I don't think the announcers even mentioned that. I have to say, Axel's music is just amazing.
The Cena match was...okay. It had some nice table spots, and Cena flying through the air was cool. Every now and then, he busts out ONE new move in order to silence his critics. Thing is though, nobody really cared about this match and we all knew who would win. A Rybak win would have made this one of the best PPVs of the year just for the surprise factor. Not that it matters, this PPV was still awesome. I would rate Cena/Rybak the worst match of the night. Yeah, that's right. THE FUCKING DIVAS MATCH was better than Cena/Rybak. In fact, waaaay better
Rybak's done. It's only a matter of time before he's a mid carder, than eventually ends up in TNA.
Great show. Lots of title changes, good matches, a surprise announcement, and some nice storytelling

Re: The Wrestling Thread
He was announced at last night's pay per view for the Money in the Bank pay per view after a cool video package about him. The Chicago crowd was doing RVD chants for the rest of the night, even during the Cena/Rybak main event if I recall. Tells you how much they cared about that.BurningDoom wrote:Is RVD in WWE now?Gamerforlife wrote:

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I think this thread is on life support
Great Raw, and not just for the nip slip from Kaitlyn that's all over the internet (girl's got some nice cans). Mark Henry was AWESOME. I totally bought his retirement speech. Jesus, I didn't know the guy was THIS good. Christian is back, which is awesome. We got more RVD video packages. Del Rio is far more compelling now in his new heel role than he ever was. Punk is face again, which I'm excited about. Lesnar is back and feuding with Punk. Ziggler is over as a face. AJ may be in some kind of feud with Stephanie McMahon.
A lot happened in the past two days. You know it's amazing to think that we got THREE heel/face turns on Sunday's pay per view. Ziggler, Del Rio AND CM Punk. That's amazing. I've been down on the WWE for a while, but they are on another upswing right now, generating some of the excitement we didn't get at Mania
I'm a little confused about how the Bryan/Orton match ended. I'm not sure what the point of that was. I thought it would be a great set up for an Orton heel turn. With all the other turns that have happened this week, why not one more?
I hope Henry gets the title from Cena, but it seems unlikely because, well...it's Cena.
Speaking of Henry, is the WWE finally starting to understand subtlety in story telling? There were little hints in Henry speech that he was about to go heel on Cena. Also, that weird look Punk gave Heyman at Payback was great foreshadowing for what happened on Raw.
God, WWE is on fire this week. We'll see how long it lasts.

I've never been to a wrestling show, but I meant watching Raw +Smackdown each week on TV +the PPVs which is totally different from being there yourself.Luke wrote:RCBH928 wrote: I find it hard any adults still gets entertained by todays wrestling.
I took mt wife to a WWE show, four rows back from the ring, and it was a blast. I believe we were there for around three hours, and we never yawned. Totally quality and fun entertainment. Plenty of crowd participation, and I had Cody Rhodes himself tell me to shut up.
It's fun. It's not intelligent fun, but it isn't supposed to be. You root for the good guy and boo and hiss at the bad guy.
I always imagined being at a show was more boring than watching it on TV because it has no commentary and you don't see the whole action like if they go outside the ring on the other side of your view angle , or if a wrestler is cheating by pulling something out of his pants . I also never understood those that attend a big show like wrestlemania and have ticket so high and far that all they see are dots in the middle of spotlight

^ Yeah I couldn't believe that either.
Things have definitely picked up. I really enjoyed Payback - one of the better PPVs of the last couple of years.
