Re: The Wrestling Thread
lol Yeah I am not sure about the Bret thing myself. I don't know if anyone saw Raw last week (I haven't seen this weeks yet) but they announced Bret in a 7 on 7 match in John Cena's team. I mean, he ain't gonna do shit! I'm intrigued to know about the GM. It hints at Stone Cold, but I want it to be The Rock.
Best moments I can remember:
Triple H vs Cactus Jack - Royal Rumble 2000.
Triple H being lifted up in a car via a crane by Stone Cold.
Medusa beating up someone in a hospital, this scared me as a child lol.
The NWO!!
Scott Steiner promos. All genius.
The Rock's promo with the police, hilarious!
Crash Holly defending the Hardcore title 24/7 lol.
Flair vs Taker where Flair gets absolutely owned.
Foley vs Orton. Orton going bare back on thumb tacks was incredible.
Bam Bam Bigelow vs Tazz. When Tazz goes through the ring.
THAT barb wire match. Terry Funk is a complete headcase.
Ahh, wrestling is such a guilty pleasure.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I don't have a memory of a time in my life before watching wrestling. I remember being so young, I didn't understand there was a set time for wrestling to be on
I just remember it was the channel with the flag on it (usa) and hopefully if I watch it long enough wrestling will come on. I grew up a Hogan fan mainly, I loved scott hall, syxx, kevin nash, and wcw in general from about 94-99. HBK and Bret Hart are other favorites, I stopped paying close attention in about 2003. I still play the games, and watch from time to time though.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Back in 1997-2003, I was literally obsessed with Wrestling! Monday was my favorite day back then because of Monday Night Raw and WCW Monday Nitro. I loved Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, and Goldberg.
Some of My favorite Matches include
Mankind Vs. The Undertaker: Hell in a Cell - King of the Ring 1998
Goldberg Vs. Hulk Hogan- Monday Night Nitro for the WCW Heavyweight Title- July 6th, 1998
( I remember this date vividly because I went fucking nuts when Goldberg won the title.)
Stone Cold Vs. Shawn Michaels- Wrestlemania XIV for the WWF Championship with Mike Tyson as special guest Referee.
Stone Cold Vs. Dude Love -Over the Edge: In Your House-May 31-1998
Stone Cold Vs. The Undertaker- SummerSlam 1998
Triple H Vs. The Rock- Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Title-SummerSlam 1998
Stone Cold Vs. The Undertaker- Buried Alive Match-Rock Bottom 1998
The Rock Vs. Mankind-Royal Rumble 1999- I quit Match
Stone Cold Vs. The Rock- Wrestlemania XV
Undertaker Vs. Kane- Inferno Match- Unforgiven 1998
Goldberg Vs. The Rock-Backlash 2003
I remember when I went to Monday Night Raw on September 29th 2003 in Chicago and the Main Event was Rob Van Dam Vs. Christian for the Intercontinental title in a ladder match. Great fight and RVD ended up becoming the new Intercontinental champion that night. WWE events live are so fucking awesome.
Also, if you were a WWF fan back in 1998 you need to remember this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Uy2tuw6dU8

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Just watched Raw, I love the main event scene right now. Shamus has so much top talent gunning for him right now it's insane. Edge, Jericho, Cena, Randy Orton and with Wade and the nexus, and Miz's Money in the Bank contract, it's fun seeing the champ really feeling the pressure. Danger everywhere. That's how the title scene should always be. It's boring when it's always just one guy gunning for the champ. I like seeing the champ having a big bullseye on him
And can I just say, Randy Orton rocks. LOVED the RKO on Cena to finish the show. Though I have to admit Cena hasn't been irritating me all that much lately. I think they're using him better
Kane's promo on this past Smackdown was awesome as hell. I like how he mentioned the match between Taker and Shawn Michaels and the whole "ten year long plan" for Kane's vengeance reminds me of the awesome Orton/Triple H feud where Orton said he'd been planning his revenge on Triple H since the Evolution days. They've done Kane vs Taker so many times, but the way they've done it this time has me interested again. I have to say though, did anybody really believe little Rey Mysterio could take out the Undertaker

Wrestling stopped being cool at least 8 years ago.
I used to be completely obsessed with it growing up, but then again its hard to find a guy who wasn't.
Although there was a lot of good matches and I have really fond memories of going to an older cousins house to watch Pay Per Views, my favorite experience as a whole was just playing all the WWF games with my brothers. At a close second is when I met Owen Hart and I got his autograph.

.
Judging by the number of people who pack arenas at every show ALL AROUND THE WORLD, friends I know who watch it and its popularity in Mexico(the lucha libre style) and Japan(along with sumo wrestling) I would have to disagree with that

LOL, well this is a retro site so you're certainly allowed to feel that way. I actually miss a lot of what they used to do years ago myself as well. I was just pointing out that it still enjoys a high level of popularity, especially on a worldwide basis, though arguably less so in the United States than it did during the so called "Attitude Era"
