Seriously, What Happened To Nintendo?

Post by Weekend_Warrior »

Ok, what the hell is this crap!?

...and then they wonder why sales have dramatically slowed down as of late. Ha! Give me a break.

Honestly, I was thinking about maybe picking up a Wii within the next couple months because it has the Gamecube backwards compatibility and there actually are a few games that I was kinda interested in. But after seeing this, I don't think I would want to support them. I mean, could you possibly alienate the hardcore 30-40 year old video game consumers (who more than likely grew up playing NES/SNES) anymore than they have with this system?

So they want to try to appeal to everyone, a larger demographic. Ok fine, I get that. But this is seriously getting sickening. WHERE IS THE NINTENDO QUALITY CONTROL?

It seems like everyone and their mom can put out a game for this damn thing!

Wait, you're not getting a Wii because of a peripheral that Nintendo is releasing for it?

The most simple answer to this is: Nintendo never had quality control. Otherwise, LJN wouldn't have made any games.

No, I'm talking about not getting a Wii because Nintendo are making a mockery of video games by allowing the release of this kind of crap, and are becoming embarrassing as a whole.

I really don't see what's so offensive about this. So somebody want's to make a baby-doll game to appeal to little girls. Barbie has already appeared on most game consoles. Why is this a big deal?

Seriously. If you don't like the doll game, don't buy the doll game. If you find a game you like, buy that. Decisions should be made on a game-by-game basis. I wouldn't buy a crappy game based on a misplaced loyalty to a company, and I wouldn't boycott a game out of a bizarre sense of betrayal.

It's not like Nintendo are developing it or even publishing it.

Why should shovelware stop you from buying a console? It's not like the bad games cancel out the good ones - you don't have to buy them!

If this was the case, then the PS2 would be the worst console of all time!

That's the industry and the future of mainstream gaming, get used to it and buy the Wii for the games you want then ignore the ones you don't.

Yeah, the whole argument of "I won't buy a system because of X game" is kinda ass-backwards. It reminds me of some idiot who said he won't buy a PS3 because of Home.

Now, I'm not getting a Wii at this point either, but it's isn't because of any one game. It's mostly because I've already played everything that appealed to me and nothing has come out since then that appeals to me. That might change when Tatsunoko vs Capcom comes out.
