Ummm, holy crap.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/breaki ... ng.343873/

So I'm maybe getting Paprium for Christmas, or New Years, or something.

I also got the email from WM Magical Factory and completed my order info for my paid pre-order way back in 2017.

As another post shared, "2020 is so weird".

Is hell freezing over? Is the apocalypse night at hand? Am I being toyed with by the gaming gods for my embarassing backlog?

Whatever, I'll take this long lost game promised to me. But I still want to know what the heck is going on.

I'll believe it when I see it! I mean, people have been talking about lawsuits for years. Now it's actually arriving soon? It better deliver something amazing.

I wish Saber Riders could have made the same announcement...

I'll settle for decent. I'd given up on that money.

So my copy of Paprium actually arrived earlier today! It's bloody real and, not just that, in terms of the packaging and presentation at least, the game is bloody beautiful.

I managed to play a quick 20-30 minute session this afternoon and the game looks gorgeous. It's very slick and stylish. I like the vibrant colours and design. It's too soon to say whether it's been worth the wait and headaches, but first impressions are pretty good. The gameplay feels very solid.

There was actually some news on that front a couple of months ago would you believe. It seems like it had a lot of development trouble, but it is back on track now (supposedly) with a new team... Tulio who was on the development team for Pier Solar is helping out. He has a development team called 2Dream who were hired to takeover development: https://titangamestudios.com/2020/09/16 ... ors-tulio/

Just got Paprium in the mail! Finally...
I have the Limited version, but maybe would've been okay with the regular (and no I don't want to trade, I do like the red box, just wish it was a clamp seal).

I'll give it a go tomorrow I think. Too tired now.
Gotta bust out a 6-button controller for this one.

Pretty sure Fonzie is the craziest sonnuvagun in this niche business of new old games. At least he redeems his name a bit.

I got my copy of Paprium today.

My cartridge has something rattling around loose inside it. Anyone else, or just me? I could hear it before I'd even opened the mailer.

Unnerving as that is, the game runs fine, thankfully. I sat down with it and played through the arcade mode. It's damn fun and plays really well. Very fluid. Great music (and sound quality) and beautiful backgrounds on the levels.

Considering that for most of the past few years since preordering I had completely forgotten about the game, I'm pleased with what we've got here.

Apparently there’s a metal shield over the chips on the cart that pops loose easily.

If you open it up to fix the shield, please post a pic of the front and back of the PCB. I'm always curious to see newly manufactured carts.

Ah, ok. That makes sense. Should be easy to pop back into place then too. Thanks.

I can absolutely do that, no problem. Coming soon.

As promised, circuit porn.

Nice that they printed some art on there. Fun surprise.

I would joke that the shield is held in place with spit and prayer, but even that would be an exaggeration. It fits perfectly over the glob, but there's literally nothing to hold it in place. I guess friction was the idea, but it doesn't grip at all.

So it's still floating loose in my cart. I'll have to find some other way to stick it down. Would electrical tape be ok?
