I would guess the one sold on DealExtreme is the newer version and has the same problems now.

ALL of the latest 3.5" on eBay have the "blurry line" problem. It seems as if they are all using the same controller which doesn't play well with Sega systems.
I don't have a recommended screen as of right now.

You got it exactly. If the device has hdmi out it will stream to the CrossPlane. If the device accepts Bluetooth controllers then the Crossplane can control the device.
