Re: Banjo Kazooie Series

Massive Banjo Tooie monologue incoming. I'll throw in the controversial opinion that Tooie is actually a step down from the origianl in terms of gameplay. The reason that I say this is that I find Tooie to be far too slow paced a game compared to Kazooie, to the point of just feeling sluggish for lo...

Re: Any speedrunners here?

The first and only serious game I speedran was Mario 64 a few years back on official hardware. My time is 19:36, which is actually pretty bad. I wasn't aware of some things like cannonless that people had found, so I didn't use some of the optimal tricks and glitches like that. My execution was also...

Re: Dark Souls II Announced

I'm surprised so many people like Demon's Souls the best. I always considered Demon's to have by far the worst over-arching game mechanics in the series: Soul Form and World Tendency. Getting locked out of half your health over 1 death just makes the difficulty feel artificial, and especially in a g...

Re: Dark Souls II Announced

I also didn't find the world of DS2 anywhere near as interesting or beautiful as the first Dark Souls (Anor Londo is stunning, the castle in DS2 doesn't even compare) and like I mentioned before, the NPCs are also somewhat lame. I'm really hoping that Demon's Souls 2 gets a release in the years to ...

Re: Dark Souls II Announced

I seem to be having a hard time with the control layout on my PS3 controller - using the analog sticks, my weapons will cycle to an empty slot or go to my ranged weapon in the middle of boss battles, effectively killing me each time. This happens because of the way the L3 button is mapped to your w...

Re: Castlevania Appreciation Thread

Judgement's problem is that it's just a really shallow game. Even if you play with friends you'll have enjoyed more or less everything it has to offer in one session of play. It's overly simple, its combat feels somewhat clunky and awkward, a lot of the mechanics like sub-weapons come off as gimmick...

Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat

I'll echo the positive feelings about Space Dandy. I see people criticizing the lack of plot and consistency that the show has exhibited so far, and definitely there's not much going on underneath the visuals (for now anyway). In spite of this, to get a show with really good art direction and animat...

Re: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Wii U/3DS

Worst part, and I assume this is just because it's a new game, everything dies in a single hit. I'd have to get deeper into the game, but I don't feel it will be worth it for me. Is combat more than just running around and hitting x or a? Why does it feel so lagged? I would not be able to use the d...

Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat

Anyone seen Hunter x Hunter? Do you recommend it? Are you talking about the new one or the old one? There aren't many drastic differences between the old and new ones, the new one is just faster paced and uses digital animation (and is ongoing). Either way, as far as shonen series go Hunter x Hunte...

Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat

Budget has a lot to do with that. Traditionally animation made for television just doesn't get the funding necessary to create really good, consistent motion (unfortunately). It's more than funding, you can tell the best animators were working on those two episodes and that their scenes were longer...
