well...as for an update on my s-video connection i went and bought an official dreamcast av cable with s-video for my projector and now it only shows in black and white. do anybody know why this would happen?

I think the answer is in the post you quoted It would look better not scaled anyway, so I suggest sticking to the IBM monitor.

The cable will give the same result. You're getting that error because your HDTV cannot output 640x480 resolution. (Which is the resolution the dreamcast runs at.) Newer Tv's and monitors don't usually do 640x480, as theres no need for them to output at that low of a resolution, yet older TV's and ...
