Re: Dreamcast GD-ROM issues
(Jacques Cousteau voice) "Three weeks later." The GDEMU arrived early in the week, with a tray arriving on Friday. This was not fun to set up, at least at first. My Dreamcast would only recognize the device half the time, and when it did work it would crash shortly after the game started. ...

Re: Dreamcast GD-ROM issues
Welp, I took the Nestea plunge. Hopefully I'll be getting the GD-EMU in another month, maybe less. So can I ask a few questions about this? Is a shroud/tray necessary, and if so, where's a cheap place to find one? Also, I've heard there's a drop in voltage because the optical drive is gone. Some peo...

Re: Dreamcast GD-ROM issues
Tempting. You know, though, you may have talked me into getting a GDEMU. I don't like the price, but it sounds like optical drives (and even the discs themselves) are doomed to fail eventually.

Re: Dreamcast GD-ROM issues
I just watched a tutorial on YouTube, and yeah, it doesn't look hard at all. You just have to remove the drive, then put a screw and spacer into the GDEMU. Some people also add a shroud to keep loose SD cards from jangling around in the case (which is probably a wise investment), and shove a resisto...

Re: Dreamcast GD-ROM issues
Yeah, it's a Rev 1 model (as opposed to 0 or 2). And it looks fine... I just don't do a lot of online selling. Might have to think about it, though. I'm pretty sure someone could do the GDEMU mod on it... I'm just not sure I'm the one for the job. I've got two or three Dreamcasts back in MI, but onl...

Dreamcast GD-ROM issues
I got a cheap Dreamcast from Mercari, which is best described as a halfway point between eBay and Craigslist. Anyway, I got the machine yesterday, and it had a few issues; things like random shutdowns and disc read errors. I heard these could be fixed with fairly simple repairs. Problem is, one of t...

Re: How many of you actually back up SysNAND?
The only back up I want to do with my Wii U involves a large truck and the system placed strategically under its tires. I was disappointed with the console, to say the very least. But eh, I'm not sure I would back up the Wii U even if I didn't want to hurl it into space. If you're hacking it for hom...

Re: My Super NES is Mode 7 Impaired
https://image.ibb.co/dAKFVz/snes_in_the_nude.jpg So I worked up the courage to disassemble my Super NES. The motherboard under the RF shield looked clean, which means the damage is likely internal. It also means I'm screwed, because there's no way I'd be able to desolder the old PPU chip and replac...

My Super NES is Mode 7 Impaired
A couple of months ago, I got a Super NES from Shopgoodwill. It was a pretty good deal; just ten dollars with an extra eleven for shipping (since shipping is always so damn high at SGW). However, a problem quickly presented itself while I tested the system with Super Mario World. Everything seemed f...

Re: What secrets does the PSTV hold?
Not to start a big firmware turf war, but I'm happy with the 3.60 I'm using on all my Vitae. I guess I could upgrade, but it sounds like it's going to make things that used to be easy harder than necessary. I've got a lot of digital downloads backed up on my computer thanks to QCMA, but if I ever lo...
