Re: Super Mario World (NES) gfx hack

Looks really cool. I've been wondering how difficult it would be to take old black and white gameboy games and add colour to them, unfortunately, it doesn't seem easy.

Re: The rgb / s-video / stereo sound famicom

Just so you know, Drakon, I'm not looking down my nose at you for taking PPUs from Playchoice boards. As I'm sure most of you have heard me say plenty of times, I'm more about preservation at this point. I'll still mod, as long as it isn't destructive to anything. But aside from voicing my opinion,...

Re: The rgb / s-video / stereo sound famicom

Ah, well hopefully you held onto the boards themselves and everything. If there's ever a reliable and cheap way down the line to rgb mod an NES without needed that PPU, might be an interesting project to fix up those playchoice-10s. I did hold onto all of them but some of them are in terrible shape...

Re: The rgb / s-video / stereo sound famicom

This too. Even if I were cool with the color shift, I don't think I would be comfortable gutting a PC-10. I know that the retrousb guy is working on a crazy device to get HDMI out of the NES. It's basically a board that works by watching the data lines of the PPU itself. Picture a thousand times be...

The rgb / s-video / stereo sound famicom

This's still a work in progress: http://imgboot.com/images/Drakon/rgbfamicomclose.jpg http://imgboot.com/images/Drakon/rgbfamicom.jpg What's done so far: true rgb, s-video, both look crystal clear (no jailbars or video interference at all). what I learned from working on this: You can completely rem...

Re: So.... Some SNESes output YPbPr.....

Forgot to post this here. I have a parts snes pcb that someone mailed me years ago. The video encoder on the pcb says right on it "ba6594". I desoldered the ba6594, soldered it into a sop to dip adapter, and wired it up as a self contained rgb to component...thing. The results were interes...
