Re: Final Fantasy 1 (NES) - Which improvement mod is best ?
Not only tough but strategic choices. Do you use an attack to finish off an opponent, knowing it's likely overkill, or instead focus on a heavier target that would be harder to take down, knowing that a weaker character can later mop up the weaker foe...and will that weaker enemy get a chance to at...

Re: Console of the Month (May 2023) - Playstation 3
The PlayStation 3 is also the era where I got out of modern console games (not including the Switch, though I use mine much more as a handheld). My focus was turning increasingly towards older games as well as PC games. ... This was also the era where consoles suddenly felt like they needed to be c...

Re: www.classic-games.net
Ah Sword of Sodan, I remember it well. Killer graphics at the time of release. I rented it, and collected multiple colored potions as I slowly, agonizingly, suffered my way to the right of the screen. Then the giant boss(es) came in the first (or second) level. Low health, and no lives left, I mixed...

Re: Seems like the PS 5 is finally getting some more exclusi
Key point: IF you have a decent PC. But a decent PC that can rival the graphical output of a PS5/XBsX is going to cost at least double the console price, and that's not including a monitor (most people don't hook a PC up to their TV.) Also consider that more and more households have laptops these d...

Re: Seems like the PS 5 is finally getting some more exclusi
Yeah, it is getting harder to justify having a console if you already own a decent PC to game on. I would say the Switch still warrants a buy, for the games on it, and some of the functionality (pick up and go, etc.) but I don't see the reason to buy an Xbox at all if you have a PC, and the PS5 is l...

Re: Heavy Hitter Developers for PS1 (Konami, Capcom, Square)
The other thing hurting Capcom, at least, was that they had a lot of trouble rising to the task of producing high-budget titles and making back their investment during the PS3 era. So they went into the PS4 generation having to pick their battles. Lower-cost DS and 3DS titles really sustained them....

Re: Heavy Hitter Developers for PS1 (Konami, Capcom, Square)
A lot of those were heavily supporting Nintendo (and to a lesser extent, Sega) prior, but seemed to really see the strengths of the Playstation platform from a developer standpoint. Yeah, I was gonna say, Capcom and Konami were heavy hitters for the NES, SNES and Genesis as well. For those three co...

Re: Heavy Hitter Developers for PS1 (Konami, Capcom, Square)
Konami does very little outside of gambling machines these days, but Capcom is still in it. They had a massive hit in the form of Monster Hunter World, for example, during the PS4 era. But beyond that, a decent portion of the PS1 era output of Konami and Capcom also was on the Saturn. Ah man, I mis...

Re: Heavy Hitter Developers for PS1 (Konami, Capcom, Square)
They definitely received the lion's share of solid third-party support in that era. A lot of those were heavily supporting Nintendo (and to a lesser extent, Sega) prior, but seemed to really see the strengths of the Playstation platform from a developer standpoint. Yeah, I know Nintendo had really ...
