Re: Racketyboy Month of Horror 9: The Axis of Sorta Evil

Even though I was amped up to play Dark Seed, I ended up playing Phantasmagoria instead. https://cdn.wikimg.net/strategywiki/images/2/2c/Phantasmagoria_cover.jpg I was pleasantly surprised by this title as I was expecting it to just be a technical powerhouse with mediocre gameplay. Instead, I got a ...

Re: Aiming in PC games with full controller support vs Conso

*shrugs* I'd just get the Steam release since I hate the restrictions of consoles. But if you're adamant about 30FPS, then the PS4 version is the one for you since from a short YouTube video I watched that version runs at 30FPS with the occasional dip to 25.

Re: Aiming in PC games with full controller support vs Conso

Wow, you are definitely in a minority, my friend. I can't stand anything less than 60FPS (though a drop to about 50/55 is tolerable). Not so much because of the motion, but because of how the control feels. I've had Doom 2016 drop to 45 FPS during gameplay, and I had immediately paused and adjusted ...

Re: Games Streaming to Your Devices is Inevitable

It's not just texture files. Larger audio files have contributed to the increase as well, though this is much more recent. The original Titanfall made news because 35GB out of its 48GB size is uncompressed audio files.

Wait, what? Why would anyone do that?

Re: Games Streaming to Your Devices is Inevitable

Games streaming to devices is not mainstream yet. I see. Now that I know exactly what you mean, I absolutely concur. Psnow is flawed and half assed. Damn, that sucks. I just thinking about subscribing it for my PC too. There is a big difference between streaming music and movies versus games. Havin...

Re: Aiming in PC games with full controller support vs Conso

I don't think a controller would be too bad for 3rd person adventure games. I was able to stand the control of Uncharted despite wishing I could use a mouse. Despite the fact that you haven't been able to test it, I think your hypothesis is correct. Most PC games eschew the auto-aiming that's standa...

Re: Aiming in PC games with full controller support vs Conso

I have the same exact problem when aiming with a controller in console shooters. The few times I actually do this, I also move my character to assist in lining up with my target. Honestly, I don't understand why there are gamers that hate using a mouse to aim in shooters. Not to bash the genre I lov...

Re: Racketyboy Month of Horror 9: The Axis of Sorta Evil

For the second week of our annual Spooky Tuesday series of date nights, my wife and I did an arcade theme. Burgers and fries seemed like a totally fitting meal for dinner, and we ate them while watching the X-Files episode called "First Person Shooter." Let me take a minute to sidetrack o...

Re: Games Streaming to Your Devices is Inevitable

I'm glad to hear, but not surprised, that you had a better experience with Google's streaming service than I did with OnLive (Good Riddance), but I'm a bit confused by this: Let me set the record straight, games streaming to your devices IS INEVITABLE, but I do not think it will replace physical and...
