Looking to buy one or two of these. Haven't had one since i sold my original black one. Bought it when the black ones first came out and sold it 6 or 7 months later. heh.
Anyways, IIRC someone on this forum made a case for the cobalt blue/black one being the best many years ago. Even over the crimson/black ones that were out at the same time. Although i cannot find the post.
Is there a "best" version of the DS Lite to look out for?

I don’t recall any differences between color variations. I think all DS Lites were virtually the same. All have the same screens, same internals, and same hindge flaws. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Just for comparison sake, the New 3DS does have different manufactured types in the case of the screens where with the top, bottom, or both can use either a TN display or an IPS. The latter being preferred.
As for the DS Lite, get the color you like. Personally I’ve always liked silver.

Wish i could find the post. Was something to do with the screens i think. I like the crimson or cobalt ones because the bottom is matte. But I REALLY like the green cooking one.. Been looking at this buy it now for days but the way the dpad is sitting and the darkness on the very right edge (bottom section) bugs me hehe

The cobalt and black one has the best screens. (The bottom screens in the other versions have a slight yellowish tint.) not a huge difference otherwise.

I have a silver one, and my daughter has a pink one. Both are also perfectly fine.

Well we can add this to things I learned today lol
Re: Is there a "best" version of the DS Lite to look out for
If you care about GBA compatibility or the use of the GBA style rumble pack for Metroid Prime Pinball (and little else) your BEST version changes.
If you are needing of the GBA port, the DS Lite.
If you do not, get the DSi. The DSi has x2 the CPU speed, 2 or 4x the working RAM on it, and a few other perks. Much like the 3DS to New3DS there are many 'shadow' games as I call them that got quiet updates or were made as intended where they take more advantage of the added beefy parts to deliver better performance. Sonic on the DS (4in1 pack) is a choppy mess on a DSLite/DS, but on DSi it actually plays smooth like it should as the emulator can't hack it on the older model so well (like how Hyrule Warriors on 3DS is almost unplayable, but New3DS is smooth.)
I'd base the best on needs, performance needs.
