Right, I was just bored and was looking through some threads on various sites about making a hard drive for the Dreamcast and I had a random thought - this has probably been covered many times before though?
The Dreamcast had a Zip Drive made (and recently sold on ebay) that actually worked with the Dreamcast - so would it be possible to make a Dreamcast Zip Drive work like a hard drive would?
I have read that Iomega who made the DC ZD have said that the DC ZD is basically exactly the same as a PC one with alittle 'tweaking' - would it be possible for someone to get one working with a DC now?

Re: Dreamcast Zip Drive?
IIRC from when it showed up, it was pretty much a 1 off prototype. Other than offloading saves and possible mods like levels for games, I'm not sure what it would be all that useful for. Remember Zip disks came in 100 and 250 meg varieties. I'm pretty sure 100 was the only flavor out at the time.

I hate to stray from the topic, but this also reminded me of when the Dreamcast was still in full swing, Sega was in talks of producing the Dreamcast on a board and having it build into one of those set top boxes, like a DVR with controller ports. They talked that it would soon be possible to have a Drive-less Dreamcast so all you'd hafta do is just download the games!

I guess that was when they shortly after, decided to altogether cancel the dreamcast and go mulitplatform instead...
