Also, I didn't play much of the first Turok, but Turok 2 was great...except for the fog on PC, because it was too much. If the draw distance had been twice the size, it would have been great, but it felt more like stuff kept popping up right in front of me.

Are you sure you're not confusing the first two Turoks? Turok 2 had hardly ANY fog compared to the first game. Either way, in the remastered Turok, the option "extended draw distance" is on by default. It removes the fog entirely. Night Dive Studios is (or so I've read) also going to release a remastered Turok 2, and I'd expect it to have the same treatment.

I just re-read what you wrote... Turok 2 has fog on the PC version? I've only played the N64 version of Turok 2.

And yes, GoG has achievements through Galaxy (their fully optional client). Turok is the only GoG game I have with achievements, so I can't comment much of to how it works. But I do know that they're still working on it. For example, in game overlay hasn't been implemented yet. Which, among other things, will let you know when you unlock an achievement in game. Galaxy is still considered to be in the beta stage.

Yeah, it sure did. I remember it being worse in the PC release than the N64 version actually. At least I noticed it a lot more.

Ah, sounds like they're only starting to implement them. I own around...250 games on GOG. I guess I'll check the next time I can look at my account in Galaxy. Can you see them via the GOG website?

Bah, I was hoping you were posting a release date for Turok 2.

I just checked the Steam page and saw this...

NOW INCLUDES LEVEL EDITOR
December 22, 2016 - koop
The new Level Editor for Turok allows users to create and modify maps, add new features, and build custom areas. Share your levels with the community and upload via the Steam Workshop! Full manual available.

WTF!? That sounds awesome. Somehow I don't think GoG is going to get that...

Psh, that would deserve its own thread!

I periodically Google it to see if there's any news, as well as check Night Dive Studio's website.

Yes. They originally announced that they were doing 1 and 2, but AFAIK there's been no news on 2 since the original announcement.

The Turok 2 remaster is coming, but not yet

By Tom Sykes October 12, 2016
Publisher Nightdive gives an update on the game's progress.

Last year, Andy brought you the news that remasters of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil were in works. That first once has since come out, but we're heard squat about its sequel since. 'Maybe it was cancelled' is not an unreasonable conclusion to come to, but that conclusion has just been proven wrong. Daniel from publisher Nightdive Studios has taken to Turok's Steam page to assure fans that "Turok 2 is coming", while noting that they'll only release the game "when it's done".

The delay, or at least the lack of development transparency, appears to be down to contractual obligations/issues to do with the rights, but at least the game is being worked on, if privately.

"So as many of you may have guessed," the Steam post reads, "working on the rights to these classic titles can be tricky and sometimes contractual obligations prevents the transparency we've enjoyed on some of our other titles which is why updates have been mysteriously absent.

"We're well aware of the demand for Turok 2 and it is still in development...in fact we started development just shortly after the launch of the first Turok. Turok 2 is a bigger game, more enemies, more weapons, more locations and most importantly...Turok 2 had Multiplayer.

"In our quest to bring you the most authentic experience at the highest quality level available we've decided to give Turok 2 the love it deserves and release the game "when it's done" which is why all we've been able to say is this:

Turok 2 is coming!"

You heard the man: Turok 2 is coming. At some point.

I forgot about that, nice pull. I'm ready whenever it arrives. I never got much time on it unlike the first (finished it on N64) but it started out as a solid series that sadly went downhill fast after #2.

I love how 2 is a lot more neo-gothic sci-fi.
