I love this series. I'm on the 4th one right now. I have to say though, 3 was without a doubt my least favorite. it was way more soap opera than any of the other games and was not nearly as intense. that being said, I'm really enjoying 4. I feel it's a step back into the right direction. I have yet to play dead souls, but I figure it's not really necessary, although I know as a fan ill try it out one day. as for the 5th game, I'm pretty sure it will come out over here. the series has released a good bulk of it in the states, minus the samurai spinoff and the psp games as well.

Well, with Nagoshi stating that they are financially unable to localize the series and Sega shutting down all Yakuza related sites outside Japan today, it looks like the series is officially dead in the West.

Does Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions have anything do with the series or is it just a coincidence?

So far I've only played dead souls, but I love it for what it is. Eventually I would like to give the proper series a chance.

Nope. That game also came out before the series started and has nothing to do with it.

I wish Sega did a limited physical run as well. I mean if they can slap both Project Diva games on discs here in the US, they can do the same for Yakuza 5.

I am happy that it is getting released in English though.
