Wait, what? How far into the game are you? I don't remember it being possible to recruit anything until the hero becomes a beast master.

I'm like 3 hrs in, and haven't gotten to a point where I can recruit any monsters yet.

You have to finish being a child before you get monsters.

Isn't noise in his mid-30s? Let's show a little respect.
I'm loving Dragon Quest V. I appreciate how linear this one is, and how the NPCs actually drop useful hints.
As I recall, when I played the DS version, I only consulted a walkthrough once or twice, and that was just to inquire about monster recruitment.
I'm at a funny spot right now, where my main character is joined by two monsters in the core party. The Slime Knight is such a useful recruit, and can picked up early. He can wield decent swords and has some excellent healing capabilities. I've had some crappier monsters join up that I need to dump eventually.

Yeah, the slime knight is pretty beast for a while. Were you going to be using monsters in place of later human characters, Bone? Only having two slots for characters other than the MC in the main party is one of those things about the SFC version that kind of keep me from playing much of it in that form.

We'll have to see!
As for now, I have my jaguar back (no longer a baby). So it's "Dave" (main character), the jaguar, and the trusty slime knight.
Dave is level 30. Rolling right along.

You're crushing this game. Are you using a fast-forward feature, or anything?
