Gradius is kind of the opposite, Gradius V is the vest one of all.


While R-Type Final doesn't have the branching element of, say, the Darius games, there is the possibility of changing the levels depending on how you play - e.g. the various hot/cold versions of Stage 2, or the secret Stage 3.5, different versions of Stage 6 (6.0, 6.1, 6.2) which lead to different versions of Stage F (F-A, F-B, F-C). Plenty of room for exploration there, I think.
