New Forum Search -- Feedback? Notice ANY difference?

Post by racketboy »

Hi again!
I almost forgot to mention that this newer version of phpBB supports a different database server backend than the old version.
I is supposed to take up less space for the post/word indexing.

I have the old index still available in the background in case the new one isn't working out well.

I'm curious if anyone can tell a difference, has run into any issues or has other feedback?

It works! I can find old posts instantly without being ousted to Google. Google can no longer find old posts. I guess it hasn't crawled the new forum.

Yeah that was a major downside of the forum being down for a while.
I wouldn't say it can't find any right now, but it might be less predominant than it was until it starts climbing the ranks again.
What what were testing out in Google?

Trying to find old posts I made. Groups of words and phrases I used that are not common. As far as Google is concerned they aren't on the internet now. Before the forum went down I could find my old posts. Do you want the specific?

I found a bunch, but I did include "racketboy" in the search query.
I'm sure they are ranking lower overall due to the downtime, however.
I'm hoping it will rebound before too long.
