What methods do guys use to clean scratched CDs ?

Brasso or Toothpaste

But if your CD is REALLY scratched, I haven't found a way to really fix them good

i use a disc doctor but now i hear that is the worse thing you could use to clean discs

My brother always told me about the toothpaste trick to fill gaps, but I never really considered doing it. How exactly do you apply it? How much is enough? I'm not very fond of even putting the tiniest piece of toothpaste on my CD's..but maybe sometime soon I'll experiment on some scratched backups I have lying around.

What about brasso? I don't understand how brasso would fix scratches.

toothpaste doesn't FILL the scratches -- just wears down the area around the sratches to make it smoother.

Both toothpase and brasso are light abrasives. it's basically a way to polish the discs and make them smoother

I heard some kind of a rumor about putting a cd in boiling water for a few seconds. Is there any truth to the myth?

I'd be afraid it would melt more than I would want it to.
I guess I don't see how it would be effective

I guess you can try it with some unwanted cd-r's.

I will have a look at the toothpaste method. Are there places that offer cd cleaning as a service?

I know Funcoland used to before they were bought out.
