Funny how R-type "Final" couldn't quite keep it that way. Oh well, all the better for us.

You almost quoted my post on the 9th of august:http://japhei.blogspot.com/2008/08/r-type-dimensions-to-xbla.html

Developer Tozai will be bringing a XBLA version of R-Type called "R-Type Dimensions" to be published by Microsoft at a undisclosed date. Good to see old school shooting is going to get a chance on XBLA and that the ps2 version was not FINAL after all.

GREAT to see they are doing this. I know some time back MS said they were going to de-emphasize the arcade/classic ports on XBLA and I really think that's a mistake. I understand putting the spotlight on new content (it's the right move) but not at the expense of good older stuff.

I already own the R-Type 1 & 2 comp disc for PS1 so I won't be getting this, but it's nice to see it coming out.

But this IS crappy new content. Yes, I judged something based on screens and a short description. Perhaps they will be like Retro Studios and successfully reinvent a series but somehow I do not have hope.

OK, the 3D perspective thing is stupid, but the rest is cool. I like adding co-op even though the original didn't have it. If you can do the high-res graphics without the odd perspective it'll be a fantastic remake. I hope they offer remixed music, too, though.

I saw some screenshots without the dumb sideview perspective. It looks good.

I was excited when I first heard about R-Type Dimensions.

This new viewing angle adds nothing. Simple visual masturbation. Talk about '3D just for the sake of 3D'. I would rather they had ported R-Type Leo home for the first time instead.

I too own R-Types for PS1. In fact you can still buy it SEALED, direct from ASCII. I recommend that version, based on what I've seen of Dimensions.
