Re: SOTM 2015 -- All picks received! Calendar soon!

Post by ExedExes »

I am finally ready to reveal 2015's Shmup of The Month calendar! It only took us a week again to put it all together, thanks to all those who PMed and thanks to our new members who participated -- as long as you stay active throughout the year in the SOTM, our STGT and here on the forums you stay on the nominator list!

A few interesting facts from next year's calendar -

- The time period covered in these picks spans 17 years, just like last year's calendar.

- The nominating members submitted 4 games by Cave -- so next year is a CAVE-IN!

Finally, before I begin, a friendly reminder to please don't do anything to the guy behind the scenes. I just put the thing together, and remember that this was a shmuptatorship, community driven by the most active members here at the SOTM!

LET THE UNVEILING BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

January's pick by TSTR -

DonPachi (1995 Cave)

Ports: PS1 (Japan), Saturn (Japan), Playstation Network (Japan)

February's pick by Nyukki -

ImageImage

Batsugun (1993 Toaplan)

Ports: Saturn (Japan)
Special Note: I am well aware of the boss milking issues inherent in this game. However, the Shmups forum has had 3 separate and successful high score threads for this game. I believe this will not be an issue and I trust everyone not to overdo it. Since this isn't for an STGT or any sort of serious competition, I don't see it to be a problem. I personally would like to give this a try. It almost made it onto our first STGT in 2012.

March's pick by noiseredux -

Mushihimesama Futari (2006 Cave)

Ports: Xbox 360 (Ver 1.5, Japan), iOS (Black Label)

April's pick by DocHauser -

Viper Phase 1 (1995 Seibu Kaihatsu)

Ports: Arcade

May's pick by dsheinem -

Pink Sweets: Ibara Sorekara (2006 Cave)

June's pick by ExedExes -

UN Squadron (1989 Capcom)

Ports: Arcade, Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, SNES, ZX Spectrum

July's pick by mjmjr25 -

Dangun Feveron (1998 Cave)

August's pick by dunpeal2064 -

Radirgy (2005 Milestone)

Ports: Dreamcast (Japan), PS2 (Japan), Gamecube (Japan), Wii (Ultimate Shooting Collection, all territories)

September's pick by EllertMichael -

ImageImage

Hotdog Storm (1996 Marble)

Ports: Arcade

October's pick by foxhound1022 -

ImageImage
Giga Wing 2 (2000 Takumi)

Ports: Dreamcast (Japan & N. America)

For November, mjmjr25 will be heading up the RB STGT (tournament open to all RB members)

Finally in December, we'll be playing Raiden with Together Retro.

So there you have it. Another fine effort by all those involved. Tons of new games to play for me and I'm sure a few others as well.

Ok now keep it clean! Remember it was all of YOU that picked these!
