Uggggggg....had a crap score after 3 rounds but I hadn't died and just played stage 4 like crap and died 4x on the boss, just panic induced - couldn't believe I got there in such nice shape and then biffed it so bad. Ugg. Ugg. Ugg.

Can we talk about how amazing the music was yet?

Anyone want to share any tips?

I figured something out on my very last run that I wish i'd have noticed sooner...so...you can milk the first boss for i'm not sure how much, about 100K i'd think, but so long as you're willing to keep dodging, you can just sort of pepper him, collect the large gold wheels, start a vaunt, absorb some bullets, and let it run out, worth about 30K w/the vaunt bonus and canceled bullets. I did it 3x on my last run before I ended up killing him.

There weren't any particular areas that gave me troubles really. It's one of those games where you know if you could just put it all together, the ALL is very possible...just can't seem to put it all together for whatever reason.

I'm excited to try out some of the challenges - this game still has a ton of stuff I haven't touched yet.

yeah this game is amazing. I wish I had realized the milking earlier as well. A lot of it the score comes from practice for sure. Nothing is unfair. If you're willing to play patient and smart, you can score well.

Mike you may have the soundtrack in the Steam folder BTW. The soundtrack does rule for sure.

This is one of those games I'll prob keep playing a lot after this month for score. In the last hour I discovered another ship I like a lot, so...

I tried over and over to top my score tonight, but after awhile I was just too frustrated to get any further. Scoring consistently around 1.1 million on the first stage with no milking, but I just kept losing it at stage 2.

There are lots of enemies that give you more points if you kill them under certain conditions. The jumping enemies in the first level give you more points (and meter) if you kill them while they're jumping. And the big enemies that shoot the weaving bullets in front give you more points if you destroy the three outer sections before killing the core (which is really easy with the ghost ship, not sure how easy it is with others). It's not a ton of points if you get one or two, but it certainly adds up and really helps you keep your vaunt going throughout the level.

Running a vaunt through the first level gives you 400k-500k by itself. And killing those enemies in that manner made it simple to keep that going.

In stage 2, the red enemies with multiple portions that shoot a lot of concentrated bullets give you more points if you kill the outer sections first. And the green things that grow and explode give you a lot more points and meter if you kill them right before they explode. My best run on level 2 was over 1 million and I didn't even get the boss bonus. Tons of scoring potential in that level, but it can be really hard to keep your vaunt at certain points. Killing the large ships at the beginning give you a lot of meter, and it's pretty much necessary to keep a vaunt going. Good ghost positioning can make killing the second one a lot easier (mostly for when it goes behind you).

That's about all the tips I have.

I like this game a lot, and was really into it when it came out. Makes me wonder why I ever set it down.

You guys are totally on another level than me, I could not keep the vaunt up. I never cancelled it, but even when I went through all the way to the boss without dying I would lost vaunt at least twice in the first level. I think I just never really truly got a feel for how tiny the hitbox was on Beam, I would just weave way too much and that cost me a lot of gold.

But yeah, overall I really enjoyed this game, a lot more than Garegga honestly. I'm gonna dial it down a bit to where I think I can actually handle it (Normal or whatever the 2nd difficulty was) and have at for a while after this month.

Also WOOOO succeeded in my "Not dead last every week" personal challenge for this month!
