This game separates the shmup fans from the real freaks. It gets EVIL.

Yeah, seriously.

I've seen Shot/Laser difficulty compared to Galuda... which just seems way off to me. The stage 2 boss alone is tougher than anything up to the last boss in Galuda imo.

I do like how well survival and scoring are tied together in this though. Going from survival to score in DFK feels like changing games.

Maybe today I can finally hit my goal in DFK and move onto this!

That's the thing though: I find that dying will decrease the chain less than bombing. Bombing can flat end a chain in the wrong spot. Dying generally only reduces it by a couple hundred at most.

EDIT: I guess both dying and bombing can basically cause the same effect to the chain, but I do think auto-bomb off is ultimately the better option for scoring and survival.

Didn't make any progress in Arcade mode, but I played around in the other three modes a bit. (What's actually different in 1.5? Is it just hyper mode?) First Cave Novice mode I haven't been able to 1cc on my first go, but I guess I'll post a score for it:

NOVICE
LASER
pierrot - 1,430,130,144 - Stage 5 - Maria - Autobomb On

Will post pic if it's deemed necessary. Next best score to mine was posted by someone with the greatest gamer tag ever: dodosuke.

Do you have to be online to enter initials or is it just not an option on this one?

Similar question - do you have to have an active xbla account for your scores to be recorded online? I'm guessing yes :/

Just not an option. High scores will show up in the tables during the attracts before actually starting a game, but waiting for them to cycle can be extremely tedious if you miss it. I don't remember what the default initials are for non-default high scores. They might just be CAV,

Yeah, an XBLA account is required for Score Attack submissions. Were you able to download the 1.01 update without an XBLA account, Mike?

The game has too much slowdown without the update.

Don't need to have an active XBLA account to download - i'm all set. Hopping back on this thing.

EDIT: This game is mean. Feeling very Ibara right now - no signs of progress beyond stage 2 right now. Still haven't touched stage 4.

Nice. How'd you do it, by the way? I'm just curious.

Yeah, it's no joke. The second stage boss seems a lot more daunting at first than he really is (at least the first few patterns) but I've only gotten to him in Arcade mode a handful of times; and stage three goes ape shit on you. I'm going to have to watch some of the leaderboard replays before long.
