Was playing this the last couple nights, and I may need some company on this one to push much farther. Very fun, although I feel a little bad in being a bit of a rapscallion in the way I'm playing it. Who could blame me, though, right?

Anyway, post your scores here. Really fun game if one has access to it, and I won't even ask how you're playing it. (I don't believe there are any ports aside from the Saturn version.)

I'll kick it off with my score from earlier tonight.

Also, I've heard conflicting reports of the existence of tate mode in Blast Wind. Can anyone confirm or deny its existence, and if it is there, any info on how to switch it?

I'll try to pop it in this weekend - I seem to think I recall TATE, but not 100%.

Damn near hit the ALL. Went out on my last ship on the final boss, immediately as the fight started, and his afterburners kicked in. Had four bombs in stock that I was just going to pound him with, too. Really deflating.

I hate afterburners in shmups SO--DAMN--MUCH! (I used to think this hatred was only an issue in Air Gallet. Apparently I was wrong.)

Ok, trying to remember this game - scoring is pretty much uncovering the hidden items, saving bombs on bosses, and killing as much stuff as you can. I don't think there is any chaining or combos, not that I can tell anyways.

I really like the choose your path option, though for scoring, the longer path is best in most cases.

3 runs in, here's the best of 'em:

Thanks for making me feel less alone. :D

Nice work, too. That 3-2 boss is a bit of a monster at first.

Yeah, I haven't found anything for scoring aside from the bonus items hidden around the backgrounds, and the coins some enemies drop: Medals for 5000, dollar signs for 1000, coins for 100, and a power up when your weapons are fully powered is worth 3000 points. Also the bomb bonus at the end of the stage. I haven't been able to really figure out if their worth 5,000 each at the end of the stage, or 5,000...10,000...15,000...20,000...25,000....

I'm also curious about the Clear Bonus: I've only played the second routes so far, and the clear bonuses for those start at 20,000 and increase by 20,000 each stage, but that got me wondering if the clear bonuses are any different for the first path.

By the way, when you get to stage 4, if you take the second route, there'll be a bunch of little zako enemies dropping coins like crazy. In that mess of coins, I've gotten two 1ups to appear, and always at the same spots: in the first line of them, and then again when they come from three or four different directions, one pops down from the top, down the middle of the screen.

I take the normal path for the first 3 stages so far. I tried the short path on stage 3, but it was an entire boss fight and I died 3x.

Oh. I hadn't really been paying much attention to which route was shorter. I just started out switching the path on every stage, and figured I'd try to beat it that way, then try going back through on all of the standard paths.
