Here's a hi-score table for a game no one plays! :P
(Which is a shame considering it's 1992 Banpresto, developed by NMK, with a catchy-as-hell soundtrack by the mighty Manabu Namiki)

As always, one credit, default settings, no continues.

I have the Famicom game, but I heard it was terrible. Worth putting in for the sake of this thread?

Well... I'd much rather someone played THIS game with me since there's little to no discussion about the game anywhere and seemingly a bunch of cool hidden stuff to uncover

But sure, whatever. I have no problem making this a general Macross shoot 'em up hi-score thread if anyone wants to submit scores/talk strategy for any of the games from the series
i somehow doubt this will happen

I thought they were the same game, but the Famicom one is just super stripped down?

No, they are different games. The famicom game came out in '85,

this one is the 1992 Banpresto TATE JAMMA arcade game.

It's a little confusing because the games are so similarly named, but the arcade next game was 1993 Banpresto's hori Chouzikuu Yousai Macross - Macross II (also developed by NMK),

and in 1996 Banpresto released Macross Plus

As for Macross console shoot 'em ups that were released also:
Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie (Super Famicom 1993)

& Macross: Ai Oboete Imasu ka (PlayStation/Saturn 1997)

So I'm thoroughly confused. Is this arcade only?

 Yeah, I know. They all have the same name, more or less.

This is the game this thread is for: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detai ... me_id=9947

Arcade only, yes.

The console games are all totally different games - NOT ports of the arcade games.

My post above shows each title with a screenshot

mjmjr25 - 1,730,300 - 6 - MAME

Decent game here. Is there anything to scoring beyond the bonuses for extra bombs when yr maxed out and the red medals? There must be, I think - you have a mil more than me and only 1 stage further along...?

Awesome bump, Mike 8)
Did you use autofire? I should probably add that to the table...

I posted a bit about scoring when this was the Shmup of the Month over on the Neo forums: http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthrea ... ost3548374
