Akai Katana - High Scores Thread
Re: Akai Katana - High Scores Thread
You know, I bought this game a while ago, played a couple of runs, didn't understand it, put it back on the shelf.
Then last night I put it back in and started really playing it and trying to understand the scoring. I think I've got it now - just need to build up the skill as well!
Spyke - 54,696,039 - Slash - Type 2 - Stage 3
Really loving it now - and it's gorgeous all over!

Polly is giving the new stick a test run... She's already about as good as I am!
But used a stick for the first time and its interesting. I'm trying to dial it in and mapped the buttons so they make sense for me. This stick has a feature where you can switch the sick to control left stick, right stick or dpad. When on left stick the ship tends to float. Dpad seems to give the best control. Made about ten runs and hit 88 million... Think that ranks 4th best run for me and I haven't played in a good long while... Makes me hopeful that the stick will be all I'd hoped. Definitely changes the feel of the game... Loving it so far

Yep... It's official, Shmups are way betwe with a good arcade stick! I realize I'm not telling anyone here anything new, but I'm glad to be on board!

Updated beatnix's score.
With a tear in my eye, not having the lowest score on the leaderboard may be my best shmup accomplishment ever.
