Interested in adding a particular title to this thread? Please create a thread titled: "NAME of SHMUP HERE - Hi-Scores" and shoot me a PM or post a message in the thread.

TYPICAL SETTINGS OF A HI-SCORE THREAD
-In the OP of that thread, describe the rules (typically Hi-Score, 1 Credit, Default Settings).
-List the accepted formats for the game (Console releases, arcade, PC, MAME, etc)
-List the way you'd like the scores submitted, typically (score - username - level reached - character (ship, etc) used - format)
-Should look like this: 2,000,300 - mjmjr25 - stage 5 - Vic Viper - Saturn-JP
-Then as time allows, update the OP w/the current standings. Top 10 is a good number to track.
-1 score per member admitted to top 10.
-If there are drastic differences from the different formats the game is available to b played on, you may want to have separate top 20 score-boards within the same OP.

Remember, it is easy to create a thread, but can prove difficult to maintain. Don't hesitate to bump any of these threads when you find yourself playing these games - get others involved. Shmupping is best done together, or not at all.

Rather than seperate dedicated threads for each, you could always make a public Google Spreadsheet and organize it like that. Simple, unified, easy. Probably best to have everyone link a shot of their score though, rather than have someone go on and post fake numbers.

Of course, this would rely on people not screwing with other people's scores.

^Not worried about cheaters - there's no prizes, so no point in cheating.
Screen shots are nice though in any regard.

No interest (for me) on a linked spread sheet. Talking about individual threads for the more popular shmups. Part of the idea is discussing strategy and talking about your run. A spreadsheet doesn't do any of that.

I'd be okay with this, but most of the shmups I've been playing are doujin. Probably would not warrant their own thread unless it's on the actual shmups forum (not Racketboy).

This must happen.

Screenshots are mandatory. Nintendo Power circa 1992 rules apply: the television screen and console must both be included in the photo.

And the picture sent in cannot be digital. It must be taken from a camera that uses film- REAL film that has to be developed.

Jokes aside, I like the idea of this thread.

what are we doing though? Single credit?

EDIT? or is that what "settings" means?

Generally default settings and one credit. Although perhaps we can do it by difficulty level too.
