Fair enough. Even if I prefer the XBLA versions of some of those games I do buy the original console releases just because I like to have physical copies. Same with Trouble Witches. I never play the PC version, but I own it. :)

I recently acquired DoDonPachi Resurrection (European Version) and it is really awesome to have the game in english and playable on my NA 360. I need some info from the rest of you so I can keep the checklist up to date. Specifically, other European releases, and any other Region Open scenarios you may know of. Are any of the USA releases playable in Europe? Any info you can provide or know that I don't have on the updated first post of this topic is appreciated so we can keep everyone up to speed on what is available to them by region and what could play on their console without having to purchase import console(s). Thanks

Rez HD (rail shooter but an awesome game)
Triggerheart Exelica (terrible compared to the DC version though)
Trouble Witches Neo!

What other decent shmups are on XBLA/Games on Demand? The only other one I can think of is R-Type Dimensions. I'm trying to gauge how many Microsoft Points I need to buy.

We should update the list to include XBLA iterations as well. I went through the XBLA game list and found what I feel are the traditional shmups:

    1942: Joint Strike
    Aegis Wing
    Bangai-O HD
    Guwange
    Ikaruga
    KOF SKY STAGE
    R-Type Dimensions™
    Radiant Silvergun
    RAYSTORM HD
    Rez HD
    Strania
    Triggerheart Exelica
    TROUBLE WITCHES NEO

If there's anything missing please feel free to chime in.

Oh, Sine Mora looks purdy. Yea, I wasn't sure about Rez but it makes sense not to include it. Bangai-O though? We could always break the shmup list even further, XBLA Arcade & Indie.

Doesn't look like Bangai-O is available any longer. Nice list otherwise.

^ What is turned out to be is - if you search for the game in the marketplace, the name comes up but when you click on it, it says "items not found". When I went in through "B" and scrolled through it came up. Tks for the link confirmatin.
