CD AGES wrote:Saturn version suffers from a blown up image (like many Capcom fighters on the system), so the character sprites look larger than normal and the image on each corner of the screen is cut off as a result. The biggest problem with the Saturn port are the slowdown issues that are VERY apparent when the game is played on Turbo 3 (Tournament standard speed setting).

I don't mind the aspect of the game here and I usually play on 2 stars, so I still like the Saturn version. However, since I have a Saturn controller adapter for PS1/2, there's little reason for me to play it over PS1.

CD AGES wrote:No it isn't. Its not even the same game to even compare it to ST on CCC2 (or any other port of ST for that matter). Anniversary collection houses Hyper SF 2 which is essentially an actual official update to ST. PS2 port is a near perfect translation as the the arcade release for Hyper Street Fighter 2.

Sold!
I'll have to get that for PS2 and to me it would be a viable alternative to SSF2T (and having SF3 would be a nice bonus anyways).
Really though, assuming you never choose the earlier version of fighters, how is it any different than ST? As far as I see, selectable versions IS the update for HSF2.

Yes, i suppose it would be a decent alternative to ST and having 3rd Strike thrown in is def a welcome bonus for sure. It's affordable price point is also another wonderful reason to own SF Anniversary Collection.
It is to my understanding that as a result of meshing so many iterations into one cohesive game, certain characters played under the ST rulebook either lose or inherit a particular trait they had or didn't in CPS2 ST. But i suppose this would only really affect those that play the game at an advanced level...

Yeah, I'm very much casual in my game playing, and even if I did play as a tournament, it would be casual in nature (among friends and such).
...but as I said, I take actual play control pretty serious.

Thanks for your opinions. I will definitely put that in my collection. Don't know why I haven't already, maybe because I mostly played Third Strike on Dreamcast.

If you say so.
I've been known to persistently tangle with SNK bosses though. Usually keep it on normal difficulty, but I tinker with settings as it suits me.

Also, this thread has confirmed to me that SSF2T on CCC2 is a sub-par port. That's really all I was wanting to address.
